We got out, after 20 years - great job Biden, I don't care if you like me or not, we did the right thing for our country and theirs. DD
Funny how vets who have been there know how good this was. Trumpers listening to Iraqi war generals are experts now. What a joke
You do know that helicopter stuff was fake right ? It's funny seeing how much propaganda the right wing does in its uneducated following. You don't think he takes credit for taking on the entire establishment and media of both parties. Afghanistan was a effin ponzi scheme and everyone knew it was but average Americans. The money we've spent in the past decade training this army that collapsed in 11 days could've paid for free universities for every American. Stopping the forever wars and putting that money into American safety nets is what every American first conman yelled with trump . Now you have someone with the balls to actually do it. Losing wars isn't pretty
**** the other 7,000 Americans that died during this stupid conflict. Only the last 13 matter! Biden must go now!!!1
Exactly. No time to be bothered by getting the people out, the equipment out, etc. This would be the equivalent of saying he got the crew off the Titanic in record time, leaving the passengers behind. Not exactly something to brag about.
All fair points, but the issue is that it seems to be messy precisely BECAUSE it was so poorly planned. The ONLY goal was getting the troops out. That, indeed, was going fine, and would have continued to go fine, until they realized, ooops, we forgot something! So, much of the mess is seemingly quite traceable.
No one ever gets the equipment out, you disable most and you let them have the crap that won't matter. We got the people out over 120k of them - all the military, there are a few stragglers let's see what happens.....we gave them 19 warnings from April to leave, sometimes it is just the fault of the people not leaving. I certainly think some criticism is deserved by Biden, especially for how the beginning of the withdraw was held. After the initial bad start they were a lot better in handling it and to be honest, were lucky that it wasn't worse as there are a number of interests that would love nothing better to cause chaos for the USA. Having said that, these types of withdraws are always a mess.... they were in Iraq and Vietnam and Iran. It is par for the course, and why we really have to decide whether we want to invade a nation that we have no long term interest in. We will see what happens, perhaps this cripples the Biden administration long term but I really do not thing so........ people are tired after 20 years, and even many Republicans do not believe that the invasion and occupation in Iraq and Afghanistan was above board and justified.... I just don't think that a lot of the pro-military arguments that scared Obama and Bush work anymore, the USA has slowly changed over the last couple decades, and it is "old news".
They are often a mess, the issue here is that much of the mess seems like it could have been avoided. I will agree that given the mess, the number of people they got out is astounding. Again, that's not the issue. The issue is the ones they DIDN'T get out, and that they left knowing that. Depending completely on how this unfolds...I think this is going to be hard to recover from. Lots of reports now, for example, that Americans were AT THE GATES Sat and Sun, but, per orders, no one let them in. That will be awfully hard to live down, especially if they are still there months from now (years, maybe?) But, in all honesty, I'm not concerned about the political ramifications at this point. They will be what they will be. I'm concerned about the other ramifications, and how this all really does end up working out...and how well we really look at what happened, and figure out how not to do THAT again (we seemed to have COMPLETEY lost the lessons from Iraq, even though that wasn't that long ago, and many of the same damned people were involved...so you'd think they'd have learned something)
https://www.defensenews.com/2021/08...billion-defense-plus-up-ahead-of-ndaa-markup/ We'll see who wins out. The American people or defense contractors. It's sad to think that even China spends a larger portion of their money on domestic issues that directly benefit it's citizens rather than defense spending compared to the US. What this also shows is that when Trump bragged about NATO countries "paying their fair share" it was empty rhetoric. The entire point of having them pay "their fair share" is so we don't have to spend as much. That was the entire point.
From the Biden watch fake news to the helicopter hanging fake news, you are going to have to be more explicit with your claims with documented evidence. There is a lot of hot hair currently being spread around. Let's not pull a Trump here with " a lot of people are saying".
Would you stop if no one replied to your posts? Sincerely curious. Guys let's try a month of not replying to MOJo guy lazy reductive cartoons and let's test if he's posting this out of principle or trolling.
