I haven’t been a big fan of enlarging the Supreme Court, and with the current makeup of the Senate, chances of that happening are less than slim to none anyway. However, after this incredibly partisan ruling that insures absolute chaos in Texas as extremists who couldn’t care less about women’s rights run wild with a new “toy” to play with, I’m not only revisiting the idea. I’m going to open my wallet and do what little I can to help defeat the Republican Party that brought this on by packing the Supreme Court. Let’s pack it some more, but with sane judges. We have to defeat the indefensible.
There are ways to overturn Roe and not Casey and still be consistently legal. This Texas law though, opens pandora's box. I don't really think it will hold on the merits, even among the conservative justices. A refusal to grant an emergeny TRO is not surprising to me, but I still think this will get overturned. Even if the Mississippi case overturns Roe, this Texas law is just different and would still get struck down imo.
We're likely to see other states put in laws like this and we're going to see our courts get cluttered with all sorts of suits. This is bad law that will likely have consequences beyond what the authors of this law had in mind or what Conservative justices have in mind.
This was always the biggest concern when Trump won. It's not even about Trump as so much it is McConnell's legacy. He played ****ing dirty and he won by securing the conservative majority in the court system.
Let us warmly welcome the new states of North Puerto Rico, South Puerto Rico, East Puerto Rico, West Puerto Rico, North Washington DC, South Washington DC, East Washington DC and West Washington DC. Of course with these 16 new senators it is only natural to expand the supreme court to 15 members and re balance the judicial based on growing demographic changes within the United States,
I do wonder if the SCOTUS decides not to act on this and other southern states start upping their game to Texas level, will individuals come out and vote these crusty Republicans out? Individuals like ourselves that our passionate about these issues could donate to political campaigns and can go out to known on doors, but could we actually get the voter base out and keep the majority in the House, while establishing an actual majority in the Senate that allows legislation to move forward. Otherwise, we are going to be stuck.
Need to write similar blue state laws on gun control and policing white collar crime. Let’s get after it.
Again, go into the personal lives of Texas politicians and find out who their mistresses are. Toss a lawsuit against them. When their bedfellows are put through hell with their own shitty legislation, they'll start singing a different tune.
They seem to consistently rule on serious issues in the middle of the night...like they know it's wrong but maybe no one will notice. If they overturn Roe then the filibuster should be abolished and Congress needs to pass legislation to end this once and for all.
As little evidence as one needs to start litigation, let’s start with all the abortions Ted Cruz has paid for with his illegal immigrant mistresses and Instagram masseuses.
