I have noticed many recent rulings from the CCP like this one that are aimed at the tech sector. On one hand good for China, on the other this is how they lose their ruling mandate. Millions of angry nerds who just wanted to play MMOs during their teenage years.

CCP will change course once video gaming is an Olympic sport.

Wouldn’t it be easy to get around this, by using parent’s account?

nope, these are for online games platforms, they make you show your face on camera while you are playing. They could play single player games on their pc or phone though.

    No because it’s China
And they would punish them heavily like force their kids to work in the Nike factory

Why 3 hours limit per week? Video games are as bad as drugs. I'd cut the time to zero, not only for kids, also for adults.

At this rate, people are worried that CCP might want to go back to the old planned economy. Of course, once the door is opened, it can't be closed any more. Foreign investment and imports are critical to the Chinese economy. So the government tries to calm down investors by claiming those measures applied to tech sector were to eliminate monopoly and unlawful/unethical biz practices, reduce the burden of parents and kids etc. But government officials are working overtime, passed many laws and regulations over weekends in such a hurry. When you set new rules to deny business model for an entire industry, effective immediately, it does shake investor confidence. A few announcements are not going to restore that confidence.

With all the sound "intentions", they are trying to do too much. The one-child policy, albeit a misguided one, it was passed during special period in the history, but "allowing" third-child-rule is just plain stupid. For couples don't want a second child, government can't make them to give birth to the third. Is a 4th child going to ruin the family or society? When you are facing an aging society and you decide to encourage couples to have more children, why don't you just leave them alone? So, if next year's birth rate keeps dropping, are you going to pass law to "allow" 4th child?

One hour per day from Friday to Sunday, kids are permitted by the government to play online games, SMH. Micro-managing is just going too far.
