While Ted Cruz is a chicken-bleep A**hole, GOP house leader McCarthy has been more so. McCarthy threatens companies that comply with Jan. 6 probe’s phone records requests “If these companies comply with the Democrat order to turn over private information, they are in violation of federal law and subject to losing their ability to operate in the United States,” McCarthy said in Tuesday’s statement. “If companies still choose to violate federal law, a Republican majority will not forget and will stand with Americans to hold them fully accountable under the law.” The Chicken-bleep McCarthy conveniently ignores the fact that there are 2 Republicans in the House committe that will be conducting the probe into the Jan 6 insurrection. House committee member Schiff said on Tuesday that McCarthy’s threat was “premised on a falsehood.” “He’s scared. And I think his boss is scared,” Schiff said. “They didn’t want this commission and this select committee to go forward. They certainly didn’t want it to go forward as it is on a bipartisan basis, and they don’t want the country to know exactly what they were involved in. “And Kevin McCarthy lives to do whatever Trump wants. But he is trying to threaten these companies, and it shows yet again why this man, Kevin McCarthy, can never be allowed to go anywhere near the speaker’s office.”
Something tells me the politics of overturning Roe v Wade in the middle of the night won’t serve the Republicans well IF the Dems make it an issue in the mid terms that if you vote R down ballot, you are contributing to ending a woman’s right to choose. “Look what happened to Texas when they lost down ballot races”…. Followed by 666 new laws that took Texas back to the stone ages. Again it’s a big if but if the Dems message well the Republican overreach on this one should backfire big time. Republicans aren’t as bad as the Taliban but they are an Americanized Christian Sharia law version of the same damn thing.
Or it’s just that he wants to say he’s running before he knows an indictment comes down so he has a better case in court, public sentiment, and a cash machine to pay his legal fees. Trump is incentivized in so many ways to announce this as early as possible.
They generally don't bother trying to be so cute out here. California just bans magazines over 10 rounds, most common semi-auto rifles, all handguns except for a specific approved list, .50 caliber ammunition (and only that specific caliber). The people that write our gun laws don't know much about guns, so the laws tend to be pretty dumb, and not at all based on what would be more or less effective for any particular purpose.
