    Would showing this in a Texas classroom now be illegal?

    I remember MLK and Black History month being taught at HISD.
    It's not like they taught us hip hop history

    Did they teach the normie washed down version where you just hear his "I have a dream" speech or did they teach you his rhetoric on economic reform?

    Here are some other quotes by King that were not taught and are not taught today in public schools.

    "If peace means a willingness to be exploited economically, dominated politically, humiliated and segregated, I don't want peace. If peace means being complacently adjusted to a deadening status quo, I don't want peace. If peace means keeping my mouth shut in the midst of injustice and evil, I don't want it. Peace is not simply the absence of conflict, but the existence of justice for all people."

    "We have deluded ourselves into believing the myth that capitalism grew and prospered out of the Protestant ethic of hard work and sacrifice. The fact is that capitalism was built on the exploitation and suffering of black slaves and continues to thrive on the exploitation of the poor—both black and white, here and abroad. If Negroes and poor whites do not participate in the free flow of wealth within our economy, they will forever be poor, giving their energies, their talents and their limited funds to the consumer market but reaping few benefits and services in return. The way to end poverty is to end the exploitation of the poor, ensure them a fair share of the government services and the nation’s resources."

    "Capitalism does not permit an even flow of economic resources. With this system, a small privileged few are rich beyond conscience, and almost all others are doomed to be poor at some level. That's the way the system works. And since we know that the system will not change the rules, we are going to have to change the system."

    “…the price that America must pay for the continued oppression of the Negro and other minority groups is the price of its own destruction.”

    “White Americans must recognize that justice for black people cannot be achieved without radical changes in the structure of our society.”

    “Whites, it must frankly be said, are not putting in a similar mass effort to reeducate themselves out of their racial ignorance. It is an aspect of their sense of superiority that the white people of America believe they have so little to learn. The reality of substantial investment to assist Negroes into the twentieth century, adjusting to Negro neighbors and genuine school integration, is still a nightmare for all too many white Americans…These are the deepest causes for contemporary abrasions between the races. Loose and easy language about equality, resonant resolutions about brotherhood fall pleasantly on the ear, but for the Negro there is a credibility gap he cannot overlook. He remembers that with each modest advance the white population promptly raises the argument that the Negro has come far enough. Each step forward accents an ever-present tendency to backlash.”

    Sounds like a lot of CRT hogwash.

    Anyways conservatives made a large mistake for their cause and ideology when they started lionizing MLK. Because of a lack of information they don't understand how criticizing CRT or racial history in our education and lionizing MLK are diametrically opposed viewpoints.

    Wow, this guy sounds like a real jerk.

    Not sure if true, but I've also heard from random YouTube creators that the FBI files on MLK would ruin his reputation. Not just the allegation that he was a communist, backed up with the quotes above (?), perhaps, but also that he was a freak. All of that would shake up his image of being a God fearing man, the reverend part of his reputation.

    All the 99ers know about Mandela, MLK, Michael Jackson without finding them on video games

    Even though some of them were on video games

    Wanting redistribution of wealth and not liking market forces when it was exactly market forces that caused Redlining which created the modern issue where the median white family has 1000% of the wealth of the median black family seems reasonable.

    Have some empathy and understand why parts of the Black community are more open to socialism and redistribution of wealth.

    No. I think all of the FBI information is true and none of that changes his reputation as a God fearing reverend.

    He was a God fearing reverend who was an extremely effective leader for just causes. He fought against the government and powers and made significant progress.

    He was also an unfaithful husband. That weakness doesn't change any of the remarkable things about him or his faith and service in the religion he follows.

    It shows he's human and not perfect. But despite any of that he still accomplished things that make him a legend and champion for civil rights.

    The real history of MLK is important and fascinating

    And no Mountain Dew drinking kid will spend ten seconds in an awkward MLK section in a shooter game

    Let video games be just that
    Nobody playing tetris wants a Malcolm X block drop down
    It’s weird and not achieving it’s point

    @Reeko

    call me old fashioned but books and videos work
    It’s not my fault this generation is a bunch of lazy art history dropouts who don’t invest their money well and suck at video games and rap music taste

    Actually for a historical figure in a video game that makes sense is Reagan in Call of Duty: Cold War

    cause you know America was in the Cold War.

    MLK was there for the Rosa Parks not the flying school bus in the air

    Some genius thought it was a great idea to put Martin Luther king in a kids game where the object of the game is to sniper everyone dead and be the last one standing

    every kid also goes on p*rn hub so maybe putting mlk there is a great way to introduce them to civil rights
    @Jontro

    this falls under the common sense disconnect that this current leadership of businesses are going through trying to make themselves look like they care about civil rights

    it’s not
    It’s about money
