You're the one hung up on single game TS%, not me. I had no doubts that Green would be able to score 23 points on 18 shots at this level, what he did the next game, adapting to the Pistons feeding on his aggression and having his best ever game is something that exceeded my expectations.
He’s a raw product coming out of college Vs a guy who played professionally You are right he has the tools . Giannis was raw too. it’s about the player development.
I think the only good thing I saw from him in that game was his passing... Had some good finds to cutters and shooters... He shot terribly again... Missed rim on multiple shots and he still looks weak on the glass.
Going to be a trial by fire for this young man. Granted having Steven Adams mold you is not the worst thing in the world, especially since Mobley will be more perimeter orientated - was still kinda cringy.
Hopefully dude gets told he can bend his knees when playing defense. I never take anything from these videos - hello Ben Simmons' annual offseason 3 point making hype clips. But dude looked horrid.
I'm so glad we didn't draft Mobley. Even if he's going to be good, it's not soon and his ceiling doesn't look higher.
Its the body language for me. Kid balls up in the fetal when it gets a little "testy" -- Adams just punked him and Mobley didnt offer much in return. A couple of my concerns in one short snippet: not being able to hold his ground in the NBA and not having the fight and desire to win those battles. Still early - maybe they will limit his paint responsibilities until he can hold his own vs the more physical players in the league.
Not surprised he's getting pushed around by Adams. Adams is huge and strong, and Mobley has a thin frame and a high butt. If y'all had listened to @Haymitch before the draft then this would have been expected. I also said that Peak Mobley will be as a do-it-all, off-ball perimeter player, precisely because of the reasons stated above. I'm also not surprised he's getting pushed around because he's a raw rookie and Adams is an NBA vet. It should probably be expected.
I saw Mobley go back at Sengun after getting punked a bit in Summer league. Against an actual adult though, in that setting, he kind of whimped out. I don’t like it. Dude doesn’t have any natural alpha in him. Mobley may end up being a good player but He probably won’t ever be the lead guy. Adams needs a new workout partner cuz he’s not getting any better training with that guy right now.
Biggest worry: looks soft as hell. You can't be a DPoY candidate with that kind of attitude. One thing is to be weak (Green is it too), Mobley looks also soft.
For sure - made me go look for the rest of the context. As a jump shooter with little to no resistance Mobley looks "good", He moves great with the ball as a big, but he lacks strength to compete in the paint and for a "defensive presence" he offered nothing to counter Adams offensive moves. Overall I think it was an "ok" workout and I was impressed that he would even go look for a paint monster like Adams to work with. Needs to focus his intensity and then he should be able to offer more of a battle as he gets older, wiser and stronger.
