With Castro out, and the recent signing of Marwin, I’d love to go back in the nostalgia bag and pull out Hammerin’ Hank Conger to backup Maldonado.
Batting avg isn't all I care about, but you should be able to hit above the Mendoza line if you're going to be an everyday player in MLB. BTW, I'm not complaining, I'm just pointing out why the Stros most likely wont win a WS for the next two years. Well that and Dusty being Dusty. Luhnow left the org a treasure trove of talent and to have an everyday catcher hitting below the Mendoza line tells us everthing we need to know about where this is headed atleast for the next couple of years. Gotta cut the fat from the roster.
Why not? How much fun would it be if we keep the same batters next year and Lee turns into a 250 hitter with 20 hrs. Just dreaming, but that would be incredible.
Ok. Maybe not done. Too lazy, but I’m guessing his numbers against good teams like we will be facing in the playoffs is not as stellar.
Having one bad hitter in your lineup does not disqualify you for winning the WS. We may not do it this year, but it will be more about starting pitching and a below average manager than having one batter in your lineup that is a bad hitter.
It's ridiculous to think that if the Astros don't win the world series it will be because of Maldonado. He adds so much in defense and game calling.
raining threes; he has also shown a lack of ability to analyze the nuances of a situation. do you need a direct quote?
You could on MLB:The Show'13. What the Astros have done in 2017, 2019 and 2021 with their lineup offensively has been historic. 1998 Yankees had 2 hitters w/ an average OPS in their 9.
no. Still, the funny part is posters trying to tell us what a catcher does besides hit, catch, and throw. Lol.
I had the feeling he was done, then I honed in on him and changed my mind. Good to have him around but probably need him at half the cost.
2020 Dodgers gave 33 WS ABs to 3 guys with reg season OPS of ~.670 2018 Red Sox started 2 guys at C in the WS with OPS of .540 and .511
You just don't understand baseball, one of them had a .207 BA, so he was way better than either of our guys. Don't give me any of your newfangled fancy nerd stats.
