im not understanding why the trump cultists are so giddy over the FBI report. it doesnt change what happened that day and what we all saw with our own eyes. it doesnt change the fact that trump and ghoulianni incited an insurrection against our government.

i guess we should be thankful that all those traitors were too stupid to be organized. a group that actually knew how to plan properly would have been even more dangerous in that situation.

Why do schemes have to be great in order to be wrong? This statement makes no sense. We know Trump wanted to overturn the election. He’s on record asking state officials to literally find votes that don’t exist.

And anyone who knows anything about the MAGA network knows how the utilize viral outrage to pursue their ambitions. I literally was sitting next to someone at dinner the night after who is a gun dealer to ex military right wing nuts who were there in DC. He showed me his friends correspondence through their Facebook group and even showed me how Trump himself send an DM to his friend on Twitter calling him a true Patriot after he DM’ed Trump talking about how they were going to kick ass on Jan 6th.

But no it’s not a central coordinated military unit. These are a series of social network communities who go viral with each other and all the way up to Trump just watch and egg them on. Alex Jones and Roger Stone are probably the only two links Trump will have to actual organizers or mods in these online communities.

I know the FBI won’t be able to bring conspiracy charges here because of the way that these groups work but anyone who makes the kind of statement you just made just has no sense of what’s right or wrong when it comes to political extremism. You know damn well if Biden or Bernie or whatever were doing this with Antifa groups and the Antifa violently attacked Congress, you would have a completely different take here.

Yea they showed up Jan 6th and attacked the capital because Biden stole the election.

The right wing media is very strong and effective.

You just have to understand conservatives don’t prefer accountability. It’s not their fault when they keep pushing election lies and it results in an embarrassing capital attack.

    Turley:

"Justified shooting or fair game? Shooter of Ashli Babbitt makes shocking admission":

    https://thehill.com/opinion/judicia...game-shooter-of-ashlii-babbitt-makes-shocking

    excerpt:

Legal experts and the media have avoided the obvious implications of the two reviews in the Babbitt shooting. Under this standard, hundreds of rioters could have been gunned down on Jan. 6 — and officers in cities such as Seattle or Portland, Ore., could have killed hundreds of violent protesters who tried to burn courthouses, took over city halls or occupied police stations during last summer’s widespread rioting. In all of those protests, a small number of activists from both political extremes showed up prepared for violence and pushed others to riot. According to the DOJ’s Byrd review, officers in those cities would not have been required to see a weapon in order to use lethal force in defending buildings.

    ***
In the Babbitt shooting, the different treatment seems driven more by the identity of the person shot than the shooter. Babbitt is considered by many to be fair game because she was labeled an "insurrectionist." To describe her shooting as unjustified would be to invite accusations of supporting sedition or insurrection. Thus, it is not enough to condemn her actions (as most of us have done); you must not question her killing.

Like many, I condemned the Jan. 6 riot (along with those who fueled the unhinged anger that led to the violence) as the desecration of our Capitol and our constitutional process. But that doesn’t mean rioting should be treated as a license for the use of lethal force, particularly against unarmed suspects. The "job" of officers, to which Byrd referred, often demands a courage and restraint that few of us could muster. As shown by every other officer that day, it is a job that is often defined by abstinence from rather than application of lethal force. It was the rest of the force who refrained from using lethal force, despite being attacked, that were the extraordinary embodiments of the principles governing their profession.

The opinion piece leaves out a lot of important and significant details in their comparison to other rioters in Oregon.

Namely the innocents trapped inside, the Jan. 6th insurrecrionists declared intent to murder, etc.

I no longer can tell if Turley can’t see the oblivious because of his political bias or if he purposely ignore them.

Also to point out that many upset over the Ashli Babbitt shooting were fine with the use of force against protests the Summer of 2020 and even called for more force. "When the looting starts the shooting starts" Trump..

I think you mean obvious, but that’s pretty funny.

His arc is very weird until you map it onto the attention economy, then it cynically makes a lot of sense. He’s in no way alone.
