So you agree that Trump should now be disqualified from running for office again in 3 years? Obviously Mike Pompeo too right?
But the Taliban isn’t the issue so far. They have provided security outside the airport and safe passage for evacuee. Still, it would seem the Bagram base would be an easier place to safeguard against terrorist attack but probably a more difficult place to get people there to evacuate.
If so much time and energy is put into getting these people a voting ballot, why can’t that same energy go into getting them a voter ID? Where the process of getting an ID is really hard for some of these people, shouldn’t that be a priority for Democrats to fix? It doesn’t seem like that’s talked about so much.
Probably nothing. I think Taliban is going to regret taking over. They won't have American intelligence or money. Good luck with trying to keep the country together.
ISIS was imprisoned at Bagram. The same ISIS that just killed 13 Marines and a couple hundred Afghanis. The Taliban release them after they were GIVEN the Bagram Airfield by Biden. The requisite number of military personnel needed to complete the exfiltration mission was not present... because Biden made a political move to pull out the troops first before the civilians... and he never should have left Americans behind to die. He turned the Kabul airport security over to the TALIBAN. Insanely stupid. This was a most preventable disaster -- complete and utter incompetence by the Biden Administration and the senior military leadership. I feel sorry for the Marines on the ground who have to work under these morons. These Marines' lives are now at risk, sadly.
This is a bold lie. Released started on 3/10/2020 and completed on 9/3/2020 as part of Trump deal with the Taliban. Kabul begins release of final 400 Taliban prisoners called for in US agreement (militarytimes.com)
You are wrong and you are lying. My post dealt with the release of ISIS, not Taliban, prisoners. ISIS was responsible for the attack this week that killed 13 Marines and 200 Afghanis. Blood on Biden's hands. How can you confuse the Taliban with ISIS? Dumb and reflective of a lack of understanding of the situation. Might want to sit this one out if this is the best you can muster.
That was handed over to Afghan control years ago. Biden didn't release any prisoners. That's another lie. Trump on the hand released 5000 of them, including criminals. Here is a quote from that last 400 that was released. "Some of the 400 have been implicated in devastating bombings in the capital Kabul. During a televised talk Thursday with the U.S.-based Council on Foreign Relations, Ghani warned of dangers they could present to lasting peace in Afghanistan."
False again. Story from literally yesterday. https://www.businessinsider.com/thousands-isis-k-prisoners-freed-after-taliban-takeover-2021-8 The Pentagon says thousands of ISIS-K prisoners went free after the Taliban seized Afghanistan Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said at a press conference on Friday that thousands of ISIS-K prisoners were released in Afghanistan after the government fell to the Taliban two weeks ago. "I don't know the exact number. Clearly, it's in the thousands when you consider both prisons, because both of them were taken over by the Taliban and emptied. But I couldn't give you a precise figure," he said in response to a reporter who asked how many how many prisoners were left at Bagram Air Base.
The facts are simple. The Bagram prison is next to the Bagram Air Base under control by the Afghan gov. The prisoners are not under the US control but under the Afghan control since 2014. Trump deal forced the Afghan gov to released 5000 prisoners including criminals. Biden released none.
Shut the **** up. Seriously. You only ****ing care because of the political angle. Show me the posts of all the service members you showed your thoughts and prayers for who were KIA the past 5 years. Absolutely disgusting.
James Joyner: https://www.outsidethebeltway.com/us-retaliates-against-isil-k/ US Retaliates Against ISIL-K An unsatisfying first(?) response. JAMES JOYNER · SATURDAY, AUGUST 28, 2021 · 9 COMMENTS President Biden promised the perpetrators of the Islamic State attack that killed thirteen American servicemembers in Kabul that “We will hunt you down and make you pay.” He didn’t wait long to carry out the threat but, if this is the entirety of the US response, it’s unimpressive. The details are scant at this point but BBC‘s report (“Afghanistan: US says drone strike killed IS-K planner“) is the most comprehensive I’ve found: The US military says it believes it has killed a planner for the Afghan branch of the Islamic State group in a drone strike in the east of the country. The suspected member of the IS-K group was targeted in Nangarhar province. […] Capt Bill Urban of Central Command said: “The unmanned airstrike occurred in the Nangarhar province of Afghanistan. Initial indications are that we killed the target. We know of no civilian casualties.” He described it as an “over-the-horizon counterterrorism operation”. A Reaper drone, launched from the Middle East, struck the militant while he was in a car with another IS member, killing them both, an official told Reuters news agency. Most of IS-K’s several thousand extremists are believed to be in hiding in the province, east of Kabul. So, terrorists killed thirteen Americans and dozens of innocent civilians and we’ve retaliated by blowing up one car with a “planner” and some other dude? That’s a tradeoff they’d take again and again. Hell, they sacrificed at least one person in the suicide attack itself.
