Many nursing school grads don’t even consider nursing. Instead they jump on the NP pathway and our nursing shortages are exacerbated.

My mom was a CNA for Texas Children’s for over 5 years and it’s crazy how little they paid

She left to be an child caregiver (at home nanny) and nearly tripled her previous salary within a couple of years.

This is bad. Forcing retirement doesn't mean people are ready and it could mean many sell their property to banks and that doesn't actually mean it goes back to people. It means they will likely lease much of it. We will see corporate entities scoop up all the property while people can't buy and they will rent these homes out; which is another chip off the middle class that is on its deathbed. I am sure many are happy about this but that means we will be a third world country soon. Also it means the death of safety nets and social programs will speed up OR inflation will speed up and we suffer in the end regardless.

You clearly haven't been to a third world country, and if you have, you must have been sheltered in some resort area. **** off with that sort of exaggeration lol.

There are other schools Pima Medical for example who offer 2 year programs where you only take nursing classes and can then take the NCLEX without needing a BSN. I taught at Pima in Albuquerque for many years and the program was very popular with lots of graduates who were able to land good jobs. YMMV.

Seems like a good thing to me.

As a white collar worker in my late thirties, I am seeing a ton of "exec" level jobs opening up, with huge salaries.

    What is the downside?

I'd imagine a lot of this is also connected to early retirement packages offered to older workers in lieu of layoffs.

When social security originally set the retirement age at 65 in 1935, the life expectancy was 59.9 for Men and 63.9 for women. You actually were likely to die before retirement age. There was a -5 difference between your life expectancy and your retirement target. For most people, they worked until they died.

Life expectancy in the US didn't hit 65 until 1949. "Retirement" has only been really a thing for 50ish years.

Now, life expectancy is 77ish in the US, an increase of 17 years since Social Security was introduced. Social Security retirement age is basically ~67 for younger Americans now. So while the life expectancy has increased 28%, the retirement age only increased 3%.

So the "retirement payout" for people averages (with overly simple math) 12 years, while in 1935, it was actually -5 years.

Macro level deflation coupled with deflation happening with tech and automation improvements.

Most of the financialized global money system is built around Boomer equity. Once it is "harvested" to pay off retirement the gap between expected and actual returns will widen as more leave the labor force.

It's arguable that our current fed policy is geared more towards this shortfall as everyone is eager and desperate for high yield securities.

We are all expecting inflation to boost the global economy but everyone in the industrialized half are getting old. A different more sustainable way will need to be considered

o_O, what r you trying to say?

o_O, this appears to be a cut and paste job.

in your own words, what r you trying to say ?

Fed's policies are geared towards growing the economy and reducing unemployment.

i submit that "everyone is eager and desperate for high yield securities" is something that you had cut & pasted from some article.

    o_O

i don't expect it, nor does the Fed

Our life expectancy has essentially been reset to 2002 according to CDC data (77.3)

Our life expectancy peaked in 2014 (78.9)

I can't put into words how crazy that is.
