Not much compared to others. Obviously 52.9 million dollars is a lot, but that's relatively small compared to other interest groups.
The problems is that a lot of what some consider "sensible gun regulation" isn't actually sensible. I think everyone is for sensible gun regulation, the problem comes when there are different definitions of what is sensible. To some banning all semi-automatic weapons is "sensible". To some annual taxes on gun ownership is sensible despite being unconstitutional. As to the last bit, I didn't support the 4th amendment being abused, I don't support the 2nd amendment being abused.
Pretty sure @Liberon was saying this same thing when half of y’all went off on him. Dude hasn’t posted since.
The uncle of a Pakistani exchange student killed in the Santa Fe High School shooting has a message for America: “Stop this bullshit. Make your schools safe — not for the sake of my kid or my niece, for the sake of your own kid. What are you doing with your society? We sent her to be educated, not to come back like this.”
Yeah and that's not even touching on their epidemic of child rape, I get that the man is upset about losing his daughter, but his comments are pretty hypocritical.
A few days ago, I walked out of my apartment and was stunned to see the Texas flag flying at the exchange... then I realized it was at half staff.
Psychiatrist declares accused Santa Fe gunman incompetent; trial may be delayed (video at link) The trial was scheduled to begin in February 2020, but this announcement means it will likely be delayed. Pagourtzis is accused of killing 10 people and wounding 13 others in a shooting at Santa Fe High School in 2018. The capital murder trial against him was scheduled to begin in Fort Bend County in February, but after Monday’s announcement the trial will be delayed, defense attorney Nick Poehl said. <iframe width="640" height="360" style="border-width:1px; border-style:solid; border-color:#e6e6e6;" src="https://media.khou.com/embeds/video/285-0b1da6c4-8c6a-4d23-b9c6-66b3cf737288/iframe" allowfullscreen="true" webkitallowfullscreen="true" mozallowfullscreen="true"></iframe> Poehl told KHOU 11 News there was a meeting with the judge, prosecution and defense on Monday morning to get the results from a third psych evaluation. The evaluation, like the previous two, found Pagourtzis incompetent, according to defense attorneys. The first two evaluations were conducted by mental health experts hired by the state and defense. The third and most recent evaluation was conducted by an independent expert. According to Poehl, the plan now calls for Pagourtzis to be sent to a state mental health hospital for four to six months with the goal being to restore his competency and then, if successful, he can go to trial. At this time the alleged gunman is still in the Galveston County Jail, technically in both state and federal custody.
Families of some victims outraged over leaked Santa Fe shooting details to film director The director said it’s information the medical examiner freely gave up. But it's been withheld from the families to not taint the trial against the accused shooter. SANTA FE, Texas — Families of some of the Santa Fe shooting victims are frustrated over information being leaked to a documentary filmmaker. Now they’re calling for the Galveston County Medical Examiner to resign. “We were notified by the District Attorney’s Office that there was a potential leak of information," said John Conard, Jared Black's uncle. Black was one of the 10 people killed at Santa Fe High School in 2018. “It’s insulting. We’ve been asking for this information for three years. My sister has personally called the medical examiner shortly after we lost Jared asking for this information," Conard said. Information they learned was now in the hands of a documentary filmmaker. “Information regarding the nature of the injuries, named the people, where they were shot, where their bodies were," he said. “The documentary is a transparent look at what happened on May 18, 2018, at Santa Fe High School," said Charlie Minn, director of The Kids of Santa Fe. “I reached out to the Medical Examiner’s Office, because I had no information about any autopsy reports, no information about how many times each person was shot, what part of their body." Minn said it’s information the Medical Examiner’s Office freely gave up. But it had been withheld from the families to not taint the trial against the accused shooter. “The fact that a stranger was given confidential information that the families have been denied is rather insulting,” Conard said. This uncle is now starting an online petition calling for Medical Examiner Erin Barnhart to resign. He’s also, since learning about the leak, filed open records requests for the medical examiner’s report, but has been denied. “I felt that the only thing we could do is publicly call for the resignation of the medical examiner, we believe the breach of information is so egregious – not only emotionally to the families, but possibly jeopardizing the future prosecution," Conard said. We called the medical examiner, and she had no comment. Galveston County District Attorney Jack Roady told KHOU 11 the information should not have been released, but he stands by the medical examiner. "I do not believe it's going to affect the outcome of the case," Roady said. He believes the filmmaker misrepresented the information he had during the interview. That’s something Charlie Minn denies. His documentary will be debuting next week at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Pearland Premiere Cinemas.
So the GOP won’t wear a mask or make gun ownership more restricted. Why does the GOP hate children? DD
