I wouldn't take tweet as automatically trustworthy, especially from a person with a strong believe in multiple laptops. The tweet itself is kind of silly. The US has a peace agreement with the Taliban and the Taliban is not about to risk the US getting back into a war against them. The US military and the Taliban have been working together. The Taliban control the checkpoints. Who knows what was relayed over, but definitely there is some coordination. It could be as simple as an American passport or ID for entry to get through the checkpoints to the airport. Maybe even a photo ID if the person has lost all paperwork. If the US wants to do this on their own and not partner with the Taliban, they have to extend the military way beyond the airport. Good luck with doing that without a fight with the Taliban.
I see a lot of bickering over a twenty year failed endeavor. This is a bipartisan tragedy and I would want to believe the silver lining is increased scrutiny so it won't happen again soon, but we're all propping up blame for all the wrong reasons. Anyone who thinks the American people were ever in control over this ordeal or that claiming victory with "I told you so's" is gonna make a damned difference can buy this swamp I'm selling for select special clients only.

Biden's taking a beating now, but this is year 1 of his 4 year presidency. By the time reelection happens there will be another "crisis" going on that the Republicans are going to politicize. I doubt this even impacts what's going to happen in 2022 given the short attention spans of Americans.

It's Jorge this time, taking one still frame and acting like it validates all the self-loathing crippling him (Jorge) that he projects onto whomever his propaganda sources tell him to revile today. Appropriate context would be to watch the entire address. Listen as Biden tells of how he polled the military command with experience and knowledge of the area, and that they told him holding Bagram provided no value. Listen as Biden vows we will hunt down those responsible and make them pay.
