Sometimes, yes, but not always. Especially when it comes to foreign policy, where voters at home have less understanding of all the complexities involved and are guided more by nationalistic feelings. It could be argued that the US should have left Afghanistan many years ago, but didn't because it would have been politically unpopular at home. Edit: I should be clear that I agree that this wasn't handled well. But I don't think even a more orderly, well-planned transition out of Afghanistan would necessarily have been politically popular.
If half the lay public even cared a quarter as much about Afghanistan as they are doing today, this probably would not be happening. These things have been happening for a while and never made the news beyond the byline.
Been that way for last 10 days. I know media sensationalizes.. so no surprise there but the vigor with which it is going is something
And there go the terror attacks as everyone from the Russian to the American was warning yesterday. Why we need to finish up the evac ASAP and GTFO.
The Biden Administration has definitely ****ed this up. I'm glad that they have been able to evacuate thousands of people up to this point, but it's pathetic that the administration is procrastinating on all this. One of my biggest complaints is being reactive rather than proactive. We would not have this **** playing out if we would of been proactive. We can blame the Trump Administration all we want, especially since they chose to legitimize the Taliban by negotiating with them, but with that said and known, the Biden Administration should not have been so ****ing blind to believe that the puppet government was going to put up much of a fight and even then, they should have ****ing brought everyone home knowing damn well that the Taliban were going to make their way back in (despite whatever speed they made their presence know). Instead they chose the wait and see approach and this **** is playing out for everybody to see. It's heartbreaking knowing the innocent lives that have been claimed by this bombing and the likely innocent lives that will be claimed in the near future once the US and allies leave the country.
He is doing a great job in a difficult situation, this was never going to be easy, and he is doing the RIGHT thing, we should have left in 2003.....what a waste of time, money and more importantly lives. DD
Never expected Biden to run in 2024. He has always been a stabilizing President, restoring integrity to the office after the previous four years.
Yes, yes it is… A top headline: Some female hummingbirds that look like males face less social harassment, study finds
Suicide bombings is not new there. Just a few months ago, there was near the airport killings dozens. This isn't on anyone hand - it's a place where we and the Afghans and even the Taliban have always been subjected to terrorist attacks. I don't get the oh the Biden admin can do something about these terrorist attacks. They can't. What they can do is get the hell out of there fast.
