Anybody could manage a team better than Dusty. His decisions suck. We could easily have the best record in the league if Baker was competent.
Couldn’t be clearer. Dusty had in his head when the game started that he was going to Javier after Lance gave them 5-6 innings. Then probably Matin then Pressly. Nothing was going to move him from that, even Lance going out for the 7th and having to bring Javier into a bad spot. Most of his poor decisions come from inability to react to changing circumstances or not thinking ahead to plan for contingencies. He creates one plan and sticks to it.
Graveman has pitched 10 innings with Houston. 0 homers allowed. Only 2 all season. Javier has now given up 12 homers.
Difficult decision. 50/50 call. That's why Dusty gets paid the big bucks to make these tough decisions.
Exactly. And makes it even more obvious when he does some unconventional moves (tandem system in last years playoffs) that it’s definitely not him making those plans. I’ve been disappointed with how they’ve utilized Javier post starting. He went from a dynamic weapon to a possible liability. He’s young, he’ll learn. And he’s got great stuff. click partially responsible for his current state as well, but Dusty ultimately has the final say on when he gets into games.
How can a manager be so terrible at one thing over a span of 30 years not change and still be getting gigs!
Usually I'm more on the blaming the players of the manager side, but I haven't been this frustrated in a long time with a managers decision.
