I didn't like the last "Spidey" film much. Except for that Jake Gyllenhaal: so cute! Actually, Zendaya. I like Peter Parker's jungle fever. I joke about it but it really isn't a thing, which is good. (The girl from the first film with Michael Keaton, his "daughter". Oh my goot-ness.)

This one has extreme promise. Looks really good. Fingers crossed.

Naw, I dont think so. Marvel (and the Fast and Furious?) has been the only guys to do it successfully. Other people have been trying since Iron Man 1 and have failed because they think their first in universe film has to be a hit. Iron man wasn't a huge hit, but Marvel just kept building.

other studios first connected universe film flops then they stop producing the movies instead of just pushing through, lol

Also, these studios try and catch up to Marvel instead of being patient

Iron Man was a MASSIVE success, especially if you factor in box office records in 2008. It was the #2 movie that year. https://www.boxofficemojo.com/year/2008/

    https://www.boxofficemojo.com/release/rl1482327553/

    Grosses
    DOMESTIC (54.4%)
    $318,604,126
    INTERNATIONAL (45.6%)
    $266,762,121
    WORLDWIDE
    $585,366,247

If you look at the all-time highs, take away anything after 2008 it's in the top 50 ever.

You may be thinking of The Hulk MCU movie, which was a moderate success, but still a success which kept the gravy train going.

You're right. I guess I was thinking because Iron man didn't come in first against Dark Knight. I do remember when Samuel Jackson showed up at the end of Iron man not thinking they were connecting universes. It was all new back then though.

Imagine if DC had a plan and started connecting universes with Nolan's stuff. wow.

I don't love the way this director shots his movies, man. Everything looks like it's a theme park stunt show. I don't know if it's the camera angles or the lighting or what.... but something just feels so... not polished. It has a distinct look and feel, credit to that, but it for me, it just doesn't fit. It makes everything feel... cheap.

They could have done that. Big miss. Huge. Keep the same tone and artistic styling of the Nolan flicks, spin them off into their other movies. Goldmine.

Doctor Strange seems to be an ongoing special guest star for Marvel movies, although he will get his sequel in a couple years.

I don't even remember Lizard being in a movie. Must have been a Garfield one.

I knew there was a catch when Benedict Cumberbatch signed on for Doctor Strange. Like an MCU movie seemed a little beneath him at the time when he had the Sherlock Holmes series, was in 12 years a slave, got an Oscar nomination for the Imitation Game right before filming Dr. Strange. Now I know why; he's pretty much going to be the "Tony Stark" archetype for Phase 4 and beyond probably. That was probably included in his contract....?

Yeah his spiderman movies so far have a kind of bland, generic, digital look to them. Throw in all the CGI and it feels like you're watching a long (highly produced) video game cutscene rather than a movie.

When he first signed, that was the rumor. The next spotlight actor. Things have probably changed since though.

People keep stretching their imaginations trying to identify the 6th of the Sinister Six. It's Mysterio, c'mon.

    My 2 cents:

In the MCU, there's Mysterio, Vulture and Scorpion.

Two of the otherverse guys will probably die in the movie to make room for them.

The role of sidekick works well for the character (Thor: Ragnarok, Spider-Man No Way Home, not to mention the Avengers movies, but everyone appeared in those) because Strange's powers being what they are.....

Can't remember if I read Doctor Strange comics along with Iron Man, Spider-Man, Batman (to represent the DC Universe) and others as a kid.

So far all anyone has to show for the Fantastic Four (a favorite of mine when I was knee-high to a grasshopper) is a couple nice shots of Jessica Alba's can in the first film, before some idiot told her to lose weight for the second......BIG MISTAKE, will no one ever understand, nice and round, REAL GOOD, absolutely no carbs and rather flat, LESS GOOD. FF4 movies, so bad.

Wait, what were we talking about.

    I honestly like this trailer
People keep trying to bury marvel
    and they keep rising

Will this make a Billion Dollars. . . probably not
but why are we acting like 400 million is crap

Black Widow made like 376 Million and people call it a flop

I'd rather invest 100 Million and get 376 million
    than
    Invest 40 million and make 100 million . . . .
