I think I still fundamentally have an issue with tanking. I mean we got Green out of it which is amazing don't get me wrong. But even then. I don't see Rubio attributing to more wins than Gordon+House wouldve. Would LOVE to aim for the play in this year, playoffs next year, then 2023 champions. It's science. The 2023 chip is going to happen. Book it.
They very well may be aiming for the play-in this year. In fact, if Wall, Wood, and Gordon remain healthy (what are the odds), we will be in contention for that spot. There is no way that I am trading valuable assets away to try and make the playoffs at the expense of not getting sufficient minutes for KPJ, KJM, Green and Sequin. Thus, the art of unintentional tanking. We are perfectly positioned to be real FA players in 2023. We should do nothing that would screw that up like signing mid level vets for 10m multi-year contracts to get to the play-in this year. If we can do it with the current roster that would prove we are way ahead in the re-build and we could start making major moves as soon as next year.
I get ya. I still don't see how swapping in Rubio for Gordon+House really effects that outside of having more ball handling over shooting. If anything it's a sideways move for now, with a focus on having a supporting vet in the future, that's 1. Cheaper than Gordon over the next 2 years and 2. Isn't Danuel House Jnr. The $10m per was just thrown out there. But I think that's a pretty reasonable deal for someone like Rubio to help this team go forward. Much like the Theis signing. A side note to this is i really like the idea of Rubio mentoring his fellow countryman as he comes into the league.
KJ Martin. And Justin Anderson only 6'6 but would be excellent vet 3-D complement to this young roster. Can always upgrade this spot next draft.
And looks like Silas wants to extend House. Adding another SF won't help if sitting behind House, Tate, KJ.
Based on info from this page: https://bbs.clutchfans.net/threads/...this-about-rockets-trade-rumor.307521/page-49 SAC: Simmons (PHI) + House (HOU) + Joe (PHI) + HOU 2024 SRP PHI: Haliburton (SAC) + Barnes (SAC) + Gordon (HOU) + 2022 SAC FRP (top 5 protected) + right to swap 2023 FRP + 2024 SAC FRP (lotto protected) HOU: Bagley III (SAC) only if Morey truly values Gordon and a deeper playoff run
Dallas In: Gordon and Wood Sacramento In: Porzingis, House and Augustine Houston In: Hield, Bagley and Dallas 1st Dallas adds depth and talent around Luka Sacramento gets veterans to push for the playoffs Rockets get a young piece in Bagley and a future 1st. Flip Hield to a playoff team for future draft picks.
Trade Targets Brandon Clarke (MEM) Jordan Nwora (MIL) Oshae Brissett (IND) Alize Johnson (BRK) Paul Reed (PHI) Free Agent Targets Keta Bates-Diop (SAS) 2way? Louis King (SAC) 2way?
Oh no thank you at all. I'd rather keep Wood unless it's for someone amazing. Bagley and Heild are.. not that. If we WERE to trade Wood or any of our young assets, I would hope to attach Walls contract.
I had a something similar based on the Cleveland rumour. https://fanspo.com/nba/s/general/trades/1VKcFC1dCxgUwE/mutual-interest-between-simmons-and-the-cavs Philly in: Sexton, Eric Gordon, Larry Nance, Cedi Osman, 2022 lottery protected FRP via Cleveland (turns into a lottery protected 2023 pick, if not 2 2nd rounders), unprotected 2024 FRP via Cleveland. Cleveland in: Ben Simmons, Seth Curry, Danuel House Jnr. Rockets in: Ricky Rubio (resign Brooks at 3 years $3.5m per) Wall/Rubio/Augustine/Brooks (gleague) Green/Nwaba/Christopher (gleague) KPJ/KJ/Khyri (gleague) Tate/Theis/Garuba (gleague) Wood/Sengun/Hurt (2way/gleague)
He is best as a passer, ball handler. He plays like a SF with some shooting ability. He has been disappointing so far.
Rockets in: Rubio, Serge Ibaka, resign Armoni Brooks 3 yrs $3.5m per Clippers in: John Wall, Dwight Powell, Willie Cauley Stein, Khyri Thomas Dallas in: Marcus Morris, Zubac, Cedi Osman Cavs in: Eric Bledsoe, Danuel House Jnr, Luke Kennard We move Wall (don't NEED to move Khyri but might help get the Clippers over the line). Get a great backup point guard. Cavs get a backup point guard, a much needed wing and some even MORE needed shooting (last in NBA) Mavs get a potential replacement for Porzingas, a wing player, and a starting Center Clippers get a PG upgrade over Bledsoe or Reggie, a starting and backup 5 (if Ibaka doesn't play next season). Save more money.
Agree that he plays like a 7'2 wing ON OFFENSE but he may not be switchable on defense. At his best defensively in the paint.
Nuggets have Nnaji and now Matur Maker on their roster. Jeff Green is also proven small ball center (and can also play AG role w/better 3ball). Bol also not getting playing time because he occupies same space as Joker on offense AND defense, does not complement their best player. Plus he lacks elite athleticism and has been criticized for his lack of engagement. Nuggets need more 2 way players around Jokic. DEN: Eric Gordon, Danuel House + 2025 FRP (top 10 protected) HOU: Aaron Gordon, Bol Bol Porter/Wall/Augustin Thriller/Khyri/JC AG/Nwaba/Tate Theis/KJ/Bol Wood/Sengun/Garuba
