Mediocre head coach and made one of the worst trades in pro sports history.

It's not even the worst trade in Houston NFL history. The Ken Houston and Steve Largent trades were both worse.

I thought the Oilers cut Steve Largent and the Seahawks picked him up?

Nope, 8th round pick that never played a down in the NFL. So they traded him for, literally, nothing. I guess they get credit for TRYING to get something for him. People forget how bad the Oilers were at times.

Even if that's true...so what? Did it work? Clearly not.

It’s not as much that they traded him, but what they got for him.

Just hypothetical thought as to what really lead to the D-Hop trade. It never made sense value from a value stand point. Something had to lead to him being traded, don't you think?

Wasn’t it a straight salary play? Texans couldn’t afford to pay DHop what he wanted (and what appears to be fair market value), with their salary cap at the time.

It was straight up d-hop hurting BoB ego, man was so butthurt about it that he traded dhopkins at the shttiest offer that was avaliable.

Any dude that tells u that it was a salary cap, is a BoB defender. Trading a hof type player for literally peanuts.

I don't think it was salary. There was more to it than that. This was more like I said, to eradicate him from the team....PERSONAL!

It seems like he took the first offer available and as far from Houston as possible

So why did BOB give Murray and Cobb those terrible contracts? Using your logic, was it to surround Watson with "good" influences?

My point is similar to the Cobb and Murray contracts, BOB was a terrible GM and the Hopkins' trade was just another example of him being a terrible GM. Sometimes, the simplest explanation is the correct one.
