Baker is low energy and falls asleep in the clubhouse. Who gets motivated with that crap? Fire him today and promote Joe Espada now.
you said what many suspect is the reason Dusty was hired in the first place. I like Dusty, he seems like a swell guy. But I don’t think he’s cutting edge as a manager.
There's nothing controversial about this because it is exactly what happened, and it's been said many times already by me and others, and the 2 years of Dusty has run its course. Next year should be a new beginning.
I don't think James Click like Dusty Baker as a manager. Dusty always played Myles Straw instead of Chad McCormick. James had to force a trade Myles Straw in order for Chad to play Centerfield. Promoting a Manager from within is a better idea then getting Manager from the ourside who can ruin the Chemistry. (Dusty Baker is the example) Dusty Baker is making another mistake in batting Jake Meyers 8th in the lineup, he is a 6th hitter at least and should start at Centerfield. Jake Meyers is much faster than Chad is. Chad looks like Corner Outfielder.
Can't wait till next year sadly, the Chemistry doesn't feel right to me. Joe Espada as Manager Korey Lee as Starting Catcher Pedro Leon CF/RF Jake Meyers CF/RF Kyle Tucker LF Yordan Alvarez as DH/LF Astros need a Starting Pitcher Next Year, Justin Verlander and Zack Greinke are gone.
Brantley still under contract. So is Maldy and Castro. I can see Yuli slip into the super utility role to move Alvarez there to first. Diaz has one more year left. Verlander may take the QO. Correa is likely gone.
OT: haha, that reminds of the movie moneyball when beane told howe to play hatteberg on first instead of pena. howe wouldnt do it, so beane traded pena, lol!
Same situation for sure, Manager is hard headed. I think Brent Strom is running the team honestly with his pitching choices. The team don't feel motivated against under .500 teams. The pitchers are young and believe it's a easy win until a scrappy under .500 team putting hits and runs together. The Astros middle relief is the worst. Alex Bergman is still out and getting very annoying.
Dusty Baker does truly suck. We have a real shot at winning it all and he's going to ruin it. Like tonight he pulls Greinke after only 85 pitches and then decides to play bottom of the totem pole Blake Taylor who rewards him by giving up a go ahead 2 run homer without getting a batter out. Genius. We are doomed. We are about to get swept by the lowly Royals while watching the A's get swept by the White Sox. Lovely.
Alright, I'm late to the party.... I've finally seen enough. You have a much better bullpen after the trade, and you still march out the same old **** we have on the end of the bench in the bullpen.
And then to piss us all off after the 3 batter minimum for Taylor he brings in Graveman after it's too late. Good effing grief. At this point it's: Pressly 9th Graveman 8th Javier 7th Baez/Garcia/Stanek Stop jacking around with Javier. Either put him back as starter and get that weak link Odorizzi out of there, or give Javier a defined role in the bullpen. The 7th inning guy, for instance. Would have been great last night. But oh well. Stop using him like he's long relief every 5 games. That's asinine. That's 6 strong in the bullpen. Blake Taylor comes in when you're either 4+ runs up or 4+ runs down in a ballgame. Somebody that should be 7th in the pecking order shouldn't be coming into a 1 run game in the 7th inning.
To me Christian Javier is a Starter, Christian is unmotivated by being a reliever. Plus the team plays motivated when he pitches, Jake needs to be in the bullpen in Sugarland. Blake Taylor, Raley need to be AAA, call-up other youngsters that throw hard at least. There is no way the Astros can win in the postseason with Dusty Baker and a terrible bullpen.
