Now that Summer League is over.....who makes the team and the Vipers? Who's gone?

    I know training camp is over a month away, but I figured what the hell.....let's make predictions of where everyone will end up now that Summer League is over....

    Current Locks on Roster -

    D.J. Augustin
    Eric Gordon
    Danuel House
    David Nwaba
    Kevin Porter, Jr.
    Jae'sean Tate
    John Wall
    Christian Wood
    Jalen Green
    K.J. Martin
    Khyri Thomas
    Daniel Theis

    Summer League Roster -

    Justin Anderson - Rockets (One of the last spots. I was glad Rafa picked him up. Veteran who still has something left in the tank to help at the SF/SG spot.)

    Josh Christopher - Rockets (It's a toss-up.....still has some skills to polish, but I think he'll squeeze in).

    Alperen Sengun - Rockets (help with depth at the C/PF spot)

    Armoni Brooks - Vipers (I really hate this. He really deserves to be on the bench.....but it looks we're signing him to another 2-way. I hope Rafa can do his magic to get him a guaranteed contract).

    Usman Garuba - Vipers (As much as I love me some Usman, he has to work on his offense and the G-League is the place to work out his kinks and develop some offensive game).

    Anthony Lamb - Vipers (I want him gone, but I think he's going back down. Rafa sees something in him....no clue what it is).

    The rest are gone....

    Matthew Hurt
    Trey Phills
    Jalen Tate
    Tremont Waters

    Now this can go to **** if Rafa decides to sign FAs to compete for the final spots on the roster during training camp, but I think we got a solid young roster going into the regular season.

    I don't know why you think Matthew Hurt is gone when he's already been signed to a 2 way. Seems like the Rockets see something in him.

    You're missing Theis as a current lock and Khyri Thomas shouldn't even be considered a lock

    Sorry, good catch. I updated the OP. I had pulled up the 2020-2021 roster and removed players that are gone and forgot about the Theis signing.

    I guess Hurt will be heading down to the Vipers since he's on the 2-way.

    House and Gordon have to be traded if Wall is staying(and he is staying).

    Sucks to say, but I'm not seeing any standout qualities in Anderson, Foster, Lamb, or the others at the end of the bench to see why the Rockets should try them over more dice rolls on UDFAs and 10-days.

    Forgive me if wrong, but Brooks and Hurt as a 2way wouldn't count against the 15 man? They would be one of the 2 extra two way contracts that a team can carry?

    Which would still leave open 2 regular season roster spots (and another 5 on top of that for training camp)

    All in all, great chance we see Anderson and Lamb at training camp

    Players on a two-way contract (2 per team) do not count against an NBA team’s 15-man roster. His list has the 15 active guaranteed roster players + the 2 ways. Armoni is tbd bc he hasn't officially accepted his QO. it's just there as an assumption for now. If he declines that leaves the rockets with a two way slot

    While NBA rosters are limited to 15 players during the regular season, teams are allowed to carry up to 20 players during the offseason. Expanded offseason rosters allow clubs to bring in players on contracts that aren’t fully guaranteed, giving those players a chance to earn a regular season roster spot or getting a closer look at them before sending them to their G League affiliate.

    In addition to the usual 15-man rosters, NBA teams are permitted to carry two players on two-way contracts. Two-way deals essentially give clubs the NBA rights to two extra players, though they often spend much of the season in the G League rather than with the NBA team. While two-way players don’t count toward the 15-man regular season roster limit, they do count toward the 20-man offseason limit.

    Hurt is not a lock to remain with team even if on a 2 way, remember Broderick Thomas?

    BT was also on 2 way last season.

    we have no need for khyri with all the guards on the roster already. and hurt is a joke

    I'd like to find a way to keep Anderson, even if only a 2 way.

    His IQ, energy and versatility would be helpful on such a young team.
