There's always been poor people, heck I've been a poor person. Never thought about stealing or hurting somebody for their stuff. How did we get here? The education system in this country needs a big overhaul.
Do they realize that the extra money is going to get eaten up by inflation. Look at the price of gas and how much its gone up as an example. The truly rich dont get hurt. Only the shrinking middle class gets squeezed. But you're right people voted for this. Let the suffering begin.
Education which is funded largely through taxation. Whether or not you have been poor doesn't change the truth that crime increases go hand in hand with economic hardships.
So this really is about how much or little it takes for govt to operate correctly. (Not that govt has ever operated correctly. Give me less govt in my life 100 times out of 100.
How did you read what I wrote and think THAT is the takeaway? Lower income people vote for policies that increase the taxing of the top 1% because they know damn well a lot of people like Jeff Bezos pay nothing. They see people like Trump game they system like the crooks they are and nobody can blame them for wanting change. And yes lower income earners are smarter than you think on taxes for healthcare especially. They understand debits and credits that “conservatives” can’t comprehend. They understand that it’s a good family business decision to increase my taxes 300 dollars a month if I eliminate an 800 dollar a month healthcare deduction out of their paycheck. Why so called conservatives can’t do math is beyond me. 40 years of Reaganism lies I guess.
Speaking of healthcare, I'll give you a little math, Since Obamacare came into effect my healthcare premiums has more than doubled. So I dont know where you are coming up with the numbers in your post but this hasn't been my experience and the quality of healthcare has also gone down during this time, so there is that neat little nugget. Why? So 10% of the country doesn't have to wait in line for free healthcare. Now everybody gets to wait for healthcare. I would like to think this is a case of unintended consequences instead of another attempt by the globalists to achieve population control. Of course where we really differ is I'm not jealous of people who make more money than I do.
Healthcare premiums are only one piece of the puzzle - they've gone up to some degree because health care coverage is required to cover more now. For some people, they will go up more than others. Here's total health care spending inflation: https://www.usinflationcalculator.com/inflation/health-care-inflation-in-the-united-states/ That accounts for how much people are spending in total - not just on premiums. And the last decade has been less than the decades before it. From 2000-2010, average annual health care inflation was 4.06%. From 2011-2020, it was 2.81%. From that link, in the 73 years of tracking, 5 of the 10 lowest inflation years have been in the 8 years since 2013.
I take issue with that last statement. It’s not just about fairness but mostly about practicality. The 1% make the vast majority of the income taken in by Americans. If we are taxed on income than obviously the system will break down. On fairness I dare you to go to a kindergarten class and give one cookie to every kid and give one kid 20 cookies. Watch what happens. We are wired for fairness as a species from birth. There’s no more obvious response that our society would have to someone like Bezos being the poster boy for the billionaire class and for someone like Trump to be elevated to the level he has been. I guess the immature appeal with Trump though is the urge to revel the spite he portrays to pull the fire alarm and call in a bomb threat at school when he doesn’t get all the cookies himself. I guess it’s some sort of twisted catharsis that 35% of aggrieved and immature Americans love to embrace. On healthcare costs with Obamacare, I don’t need to spend time fact checking that. It’s not a perfect system but all the evidence points towards it actually helping more than it hurt. You want to find out how it can be messed with though just look at a feckless hack like Marco Rubio: https://www.nytimes.com/2015/12/10/us/politics/marco-rubio-obamacare-affordable-care-act.html Typical Republican thing to break something and then point the finger at the other guy.
I didn't read it, because I know how the govt taking over the healthcare industry has affected my life. It certainly hasn't been for the better.
What does wanting the government getting as little of my hard earned money have to do with being cheap?
I'm a capitalist, you're a socialist. Just admit you envy people who make more money than you do and move on. This just in all people aren't created equal and I believe in making money to the best of my ability. The fact that plenty of people make more money than me doesn't bother me at all. It seems to really bother you.
Go to a kindergarten class find the kid with the biggest box of crayons, one of the big 64 or 128 packs. Take half of that kids crayons, a quarter of the crayons from 3 other kids, a 2-4 crayons from 10 or so kids, and then give some of the crayons you took to four of the other kids, then use the rest of the crayons you took to draw a picture yourself to put on the wall, use some to even out a wobbly table, give some to any kid that will tattle on another kid, give some to whoever will volunteer to be the hall monitor, and keep the rest, to be put to some other use later that the kids don't need to worry about. See how fair the kids who you took crayons from think it is. For some reason, you are looking at taxes backwards.
ur as much of a socialist as everyone else who was silent on Trump socialist policy of imposing tariffs / trade war the tax cut, which, effectively, forces the middle class (w a mortgage and pay local income tax) to pay for the tax cut targeting the top 1% there's always been less-than-informed people, such as you, who has been talking w forged tongue insofar as socialism
How you can't see the forest through the trees and don't have a good understanding of how the economy works. Hint it's more mixed than you think
I understand that predictably since Biden has implemented his policies inflation has gone through the roof. Maybe it's you that cant see the forest for the trees. Less taxation is good for the economy since people have more money to spend. This is really easy to understand. However I get with all of the stimulus money floating around that our grandchildren will be paying for, why you might not understand this.
