I got curious about how long our basketball suffering went on and how long the popular feeling of no hope around here lasted? It was only 197 days that had passed between when Harden was traded and Jalen was drafted. It was only 160 days to find out we got the 2nd blessed pick of the draft. Take that for data. Deserves its own thread. Discuss. Or don't? Maybe just celebrate...

Moving on, that's pretty quick if you ask me. I know we're not officially a fully rebuilt team until we're in the playoffs and sniffing a trophy, but if these guys are as good as they look... we've already rebuilt the team and development time is all we need.

At the very least we know the pity party ended in Houston. We're currently looking up and climbing championship mountain once again!

    Go Rox!

You boys might want to pump the breaks a bit. I expect flashes of greatness but a lot of growing pains

LOL. “Provided our youthful core pans out.” That’s the whole enchilada right there.

Literally 3/4 of the league could be contenders “if their young players pan out”

First question is: how do you measure the end of a rebuild?

When you start signing free agents instead of drafting in the lottery.

I think we’ve still got a long way to go. We’ve got some talent but it won’t all pan out. I think we need another good draft next year, netting at least another cornerstone player, to really feel like we have our core.

but obvious Tate, Wood, KJ and KPJ look promising as do our draft picks. No reason to rush the rebuild; we need to keep acquiring talent to build on

You are always going to sign free agents. I guess I mean a Splash!

I think it’s really over when you are no longer drafting in the lottery. I think ours has a pretty clear endgame. We should not be considered a rebuilding team after 2023 free agency.

Obviously we haven't accomplished anything yet until one or two of our prospects develops into a legit star. But, it's very impressive how Stone managed to gain a talented supporting cast along with a few star potential candidates in essentially one season and draft. That's also considering the Harden trade assets haven't really been realized yet.

I feel like we are a year or two ahead of a successful organic rebuild because of last years accumulation of talented young talent with decent upside + the 2021 draft + the already apparent complimentary parts to each other and chemistry

That is the clear tipping point. I expect the Rockets to try to get a top 5 pick one way or another next season. All the way to the point in actively losing games by trades or sitting guys in the right spots. While also using assets to move up a bit if they have to. Then another top 12ish pick the next season and sign a player in 2023 free agency.

Potential to have a great great team

I think it’s when you have a couple all star players who haven’t hit their prime and you become a perennial playoff team. At that point u are just looking to add guys or another core player to put u over the top, and you are an attractive destination because you are a good team that has star players who are only getting better. At that point your rebuild is over.

Yeah after thinking about it I think playoffs 2 years in a row is my "end of rebuild" milestone.

I guess a conference finals appearance would also work.
