It's not like people aren't getting vaccinated any more. Vaccine rates have gone up in the last month with Delta. We can encourage certain private businesses to institute vaccination requirements for employees and customers. We can hold vaccine drives in underserved communities. We can continue to debunk myths around the vaccine and present information showing their effectiveness. There's plenty that can be done. Screaming at people won't help, agreed.
In a shoutout to @Space Ghost — we aren’t going to “stop the pandemic” now, even with a 100% vaccination rate. We are stuck with the virus and its mutations for the long haul, but vaccination will make it much MUCH less devastating to humans, economies and healthcare systems.
It is not hard to guess what’s coming. Delta is going to ravage schools and send unvaccinated idiots to the hospital. Along with immunocompromised and others who couldn’t get a vaccine. Many big public schools will return to on-line classes. The same people who rage at masks will rage at remote learning. They are that stupid. And yet they won’t change their behavior to have a ghost of a chance for their kids to be at school. Republican governors will do nothing and will continue to refuse to allow mask mandates. Maybe we hit some level of herd immunity by Oct/Nov. Hopefully, those who believe in science will be permitted to get booster shots as needed. If cases continue to increase through Nov, those of us who give a crap about covid and our elderly parents and unvaccinated kids will have our Thanksgivings wrecked again. And possibly Christmas. My wild ass guess is that delta won’t slow down (hit herd immunity) until Feb 2022. And the big question is whether there is another variant.
It's easy for her to say. Doctors and nurses are at the forefront fighting this **** along with all the other stuff that goes through the ER. I dare her to say that to first responders. I get it though, in America, we enjoy burning out the American worker, so gives a ****, these guys are getting paid anyways, amirite? Personal choice should come with some sort of fine. If you aren't vaccinated and end up in the ER taking up space, then we are going to fine you $2,500. Is great to have choice, that's what is beautiful about this country, but it shouldn't come up at the expense of collapsing our medical system. Yesterday my coworker came into my office and her mom had potentially suffered a stroke. I guess she was still conscious and semi okay because her mom was just sitting in a ER hallway with 30 other patients waiting to be given a room. Imagine that ****. Something that could be preventable, but noooooo, personal choice. Of course you don't give a **** until it happens to your loved ones or to you. I hate how blind people are. OHHHHH, but TMC is always at 90% ICU capacity, we can just go into Phase 1, Phase 2, Phase 3, it's okay. The media is just scaring you. They have bed capacity, you will be okay lol. As if we had a ****ing infinite limit of workers to treat your dumbass.
Completely agreed. Get chipped and be done with it. Maybe in 5 years we can have a yearly COVID booster shot to cover all the new variants. 18 months ago we already knew COVID was here to stay.
Yeah, viral load continues to not be discussed well in the media and I am not sure why. My wife, a doctor that studied viruses has harped on that with me since this started.... yet there is little discussion.
You can try to explain the obstinacy to the vax preachers all you like, but it won't change anything. They'll still complain about people not getting vaccinated. It will change nothing.
To be frank, I don't fully understand how viral load works. Almost sounds like radiation and using a geiger counter, but since you can't measure it in rooms it's just a word thrown out that people can't quantify outside a lab. The term might always have been around before but for the word to pop up during Covid (our first threatening airborne epidemic) makes it all more confusing and mysterious.
People should absolutely get vaccinated. Even the idiots who don't want to. Call it what you want and that we'll scream until we're blue in the face. It's science and more people need to follow it.
