Mariano Rivera has a career 5.94 ERA as a starter after facing 233 batters in 50 IP. Different story as a reliever.
McHugh is another example except he had the talent to be a great starter. Just never healthy enough. If McCullers couldn't stay healthy this year, I would have said the same about him.
I’ll take Graveman for at least 2021. Whatever he’s figured out is dominating and its unlikely the league will catch up to it. Kimbrel has carved out a long career of being an elite closer… but he’s had ups/downs. Certainly the mark of a truly elite player is making adjustments and being able to add to their game to ensure longevity… and maybe Graveman doesn’t have that in him long term… but for now, he’s flat-out doing whatever he wants with the ball and he’s finally on a team where it matters (i.e. - October dominance = $$$$$).
Or simply if he’s not overused. Since the trade deadline, Stanek has still pitched in the 8th and 9th innings. Just not as frequently as prior to the trade deadline.
And? That's a good call, bro. Another one of your wonders of "sabermetrics" I saw the other one earlier, I'm not going to call you out on it, though.
