Random question for someone that's watched more baseball than me. Bud Black, the Rockies manager, he was a pitching coach at one point. Is it common for pitching coaches to later become managers? I didn't think that was common.
Not all that common off the top of my head, I'll have to think about it. He was a pretty good pitcher back in the day as well. ETA: Roger Craig with the Giants is the obvious exception to the rule
