Dude, give that racist **** a rest. If you can’t handle players being critiqued on a fan website, don’t come. Miss me with that brotha, covert racist ****
Those guys naturally fell into the SOF crowd so they can hate on Green whenever he plays poorly. I think we can universally agree having Green AND Sengun + JC/Usman is better than just having Mobley and JC/Usman. There's no way we move up for Sengun after taking Mobley imo.
A very fair point. But I just felt overall watching the game that Cade was the more polished player across facets of the game. But that said, I was very happy with Green. To me Green isn't going to necessarily be rookie of the year, but he very well might be sophomore of the year.
Cade definitely has more refined handles and has better defensive awareness at this point of their careers. Green has the better natural tools such as his fluidness and arhleticsm to have a higher ceiling. It's all up to work ethic and the people around them such as training staff and veteran mentors at this point on who's going to have the better career. One thing that has surpassed my expectations nof Green is his shooting. He has a Curry like high arcing shot that just looks so good going down the net. It's an effortless looking shot. Even opposing Piston fans were like "when Green shoots it always looks like it's going to go in".
Right, Cade seems like a fairly polished player that’s probably going to be pretty good. Green looks like time can turn him into a top 5 player in the league. Of course potential is a dangerous game.
Yes but I'm more confident in Green reaching it than someone like Wiggins due to personality. Green is an extrovert who constantly works on his game and is very self critical.
Speaking of Kobe and watching his SL clips, and then watching young MJ, i still can't understand what is happening when i see them as clearly bigger players on the court than even Cade. Cade is clearly 2 in. taller than Green, but Cade doesn't feel 6'8 at all, and Green doesn't feel 6'6 at all which means there's possibly a lot of sneaky lying about heights still going on in the NBA. The ball, the court, the goal, the rim-all the same size and yet my eyes perceive MJ/Kobe as much larger players than watching Green or other 2 guards in the league today. Maybe it's the really long wingspan and broad shoulders. IDK. Just can't get over it.
I think they are both going to be ROY candidates. Cade will probably get it, because he will get higher usage and be more consistent. I also think that both are going to perineal all-stars.
Of course I can't predict this after those two summer league games - and I am not. I am simply stating, what my feelings are after this way too small sample size. To me, he looks like a taller Chauncey Billups. Smart guy, good shooter, very good defender. A great player, but not the number 1 option. Of course I could be wrong (and probably are) - but that is what I see right now.
I think it just has to do with the average player being taller than before so therefore a 6'6" player won't look as tall as in the 90s due to the players around them. The NBA is barely drafting small 6 ft guards anymore.
IDK seems odd to me that both games, Detroit is using Cade more off ball the way we've been using Green. Jaygup seems to have higher USG than either of them. If i was Detroit, i'd just put the ball in Cades hands and give him the keys ala Luka. Green on the other hand is more of a traditional 2 right now and i have no problem with how were using him right now because he's moving so well without the ball- a problem that plagued guys like Kobe and T-Mac and AI and other SG's of the 2k era. They all wanted to score like MJ, but MJ was relentless off ball as well. He never stopped moving. Green has shades of that-a pleasant change from Harden's ball watching.
So far, and my biased opinion, is that I'm not impressed with Cade from 2 SL games. There were a few stretches in the second half that made me open my eyes a little more but overall I would expect more out of the #1. Lets be honest, the plays where he seemed a little more aggressive getting to the bucket or creating for teammates, he was defended by less that average opposition - Foster, Lamb. Green. When he was guarded by tougher D, I didn't see him do much. He often gave the ball up and stood at the 3pt line. Anderson, Chris and even Al P were able to derail any attempt at creating and this was always 1v1. This has to be at least a little concerning as a DET fan considering there will be much better defenders on a nightly basis during the reg season. Green had a rough one last night but I think we were all surprised by the attempt from DET to shut him down early and often. Many others have pointed it out already but the double/triple teaming and pressuring full court - it was clear that DET was either worried about their pick being shown up or feared JG attempt at proving they made the wrong decisions or both. You don't go out of your way to run this type of defense in a SL game unless there is a hidden agenda. it's Summer League. Its about developing your guys and seeing who can make the cut. See who can check Green 1v1 and earn an NBA contract. This double/triple teaming, zone D was a little BS. That being said. I was happy JG got a dose of it. A little preparation to what it could be like in the future and learning now how to counter it is a good thing. It was rough but by all accounts he will watch film, and work to get better at it. Cant complain with the outcome of Game 2 too much. Its only up from here (and he still was leading scorer in the game).
Don't know if these were shared already, but good highlights of yesterday's game, with makes and misses. - Green - Cade - Sengun
Nah. I aint buying it. Cade is probably a 6'6.75 in shoes and Green likely just shy of 6'5 in shoes IMO. https://www.thehoopsgeek.com/average-nba-height/
Fit is important. Pistons took Killian Hayes (somewhat of a reach) last year in the top 10 to play point and by most accounts their fans were happy with his progress in year 1 - and then they draft another "PG" at pick 1 this year! Someone will have to play off ball and it doesnt seem like that combo is going to work - Hayes has also been awful playing off ball last night the dude was a -24 in his playing time. I'd guess they will move Hayes soon in order for the roster construct to be more fluid and efficient. Cade needs to have the ball in his hand on almost every possession like you say - thats where he flourishes.
Well if you're Detroit, you've seen what Killian brings, now is exactly the time to see how it goes with Cade running the point and try and improve Killian's off ball play. We already knwo Cade will knock down his shots off screens and spot ups. Cade will be the face of the franchise and eventually be featured in the offense, so why not improve KIllian Hayes off ball play now?
You're right, but how much of that Cade playmaking was on display last night? Detroit has a "loaded" summer league team with veteran talent and they are struggling mightily with trying to incorporate the #1 pick and how the different roles are going to be filled (yeah I know its only 2 games). Hayes is too bad of a shooter to have him catching and shooting and creating his own shot in general. He is a decent passer and I would probably have Cade play off ball in order to maximize Killian, but then you minimize Cade. Catch 22. Yes - teams need multiple playmakers, but there can only be one captain on a ship at a time. Maybe stagger Hayes and Cade or something to see if it can work, but you cant play them both at the same time it would appear early on.
