He has good core strength and it was displayed a couple of times in the first Sl game when a larger opposing player tried to drive through him and he stood his ground and made the opponent fall down.
I mean Steph Curry (and I think he's really good) doesn't either. He had the perfect situation around him for years. He never had to iniatiate the offense as a PG which allowed him to focus on his main strength which is scoring. I'm not saying you can straight up swap Beal and Curry in their prime and the Warriors find similar success but the situation you're in matters so much for what people think of you. Beal has been in a terrible situation in Washington for years now. Meanwhile someone like Curry had the absolute perfect dream scenario around him and is consensus top 5 PG of all time. Again, not trying to say that Beal is equal to Curry but context matters so much. Situation matters so much. Without that perfect situation, Curry still had a great season this year efficiency wise (similar to Beal) and without his All-Star teammates and Draymond clearly at the tail-end of his prime, Curry couldn't even make the playoffs.
I like KPJ but man he needs to completely rework his defense starting from effort and body language, particularly after missing shots or turnovers (or anything bad happening). Physically he’s capable of anything. Mentally he just needs to block out the bad plays and move on.
I like KPJ's potential ceiling but you are one of the few people amongst Rocket fans and non Rocket fans/analysts who believe KPJ has a higher ceiling than Green. KPJ before this season wasn't known for being a playmaker btw.
I wasn't really talking about defense, there probably won't be much of that in a KPJ/Green backcourt. I was really only talking about offense. With KPJ's ability to play PG and create for his teammates and Green's ability to score, along with everything Wood brings to the offense, that side of the ball should be pretty stellar. The questions will come as to if the Rockets can simply outscore their opponents rather than playing all that much defense. KPJ being able to be the primary ball handler and creator should open up a lot of easy scoring opportunities for Green and Wood. One of the biggest problems the Rockets are having in this summer league is that they don't have any real point guards on the roster. When a center who doesn't even speak or understand English is your best passer, that's going to present problems. They still managed to win though, and that's not nothing.
Yes kpj is a great fit with Green on offense. Reason I brought up defense is if he will be good enough as an overall player to pair with Green long term as a starter.
Are there really people who think that CURRENTLY Green is a better player than KPJ? I mean, we saw them together on the same court 6 months ago and Green wasn't close to that level.....and Green has improved since then. They are just different kinds of players really. KPJ is a combo guard, which IMO suggests if he reaches his potential it's a higher ceiling than Green who is a traditional SG. Now, perhaps one day Green expands his skillset and becomes more of a combo guard, that would change things. Either way, it's good to have both, especially in the years where Green isn't much of a creator when it comes to creating for others. He's not CURRENTLY a primary ball handler. KPJ is. That's why they fit.
They are both young and in theory both have the physical tools to be at least decent defenders. Hopefully at least one of them will add that to their game over the next few years. We'll see.
I hope for Jalen to find a God fearing girl and settle down as soon as possible so he doesn’t need to worry about chasing tail. Like when that rumor of Harden possibly getting engaged, I was like finally…lol I think this is super underrated in terms of the success of these stars ultimately winning a chip IMO.
From watching Green, it seems like he actively tries to avoid contact to make sure he scores. I don't think he's the type that likes to foul bait like Harden and Doncic. Maybe that's a good thing when it comes to playoffs where the refs would reward Jalen more FTAs down the stretch. Time will tell Green is definitely 6'6"
Your statement I replied to implies that you think KPJ is planned to be the best player in this rebuild for the future. Trust me when I say that Rockets management, training staff along with Rocker fans, neutral fans and NBA analysts project Green to be the better player than KPJ.
Strongly disagree A strong masculine male handles his business regardless. Casual sex doesn’t interfere with business. Also your testosterone levels are higher when you are single along with drive and ambition.
As of now he is, and I'm not assuming that'll change any time soon. They are both about the same age, KPJ will continue to improve as Green does. I know you think Green is the next Kobe and all that, and there's plenty who are on that bandwagon, but trying to tear down KPJ to elevate your favorite rookie is weird. Give it time grasshopper, I think this time next year you'll start to see things a bit differently......or maybe I'm wrong and Green really is the next Kobe and all must bow down before him. My point was that as of right now, KPJ is the team's best player and that's a good thing for Green....and the team.
