Why aren't more people talking about the fact that this dude lost 2 inches!? Looking at his frame knowing he's only 6'6 is a significant difference. My wife out-loud said, "Gosh that guy is skinny!", and she's right. As soon as you realize he's not that tall, you realize he truly is too small to play anything but guard on either end. I honestly wasn't super worried about his lack of athleticism knowing he was going to be taller than almost every guard there is, but the idea that he has the skill-set of a great guard at 6'8 was what made him a can't miss. Now he's not that tall and not a great athlete. I'm not saying Green is already the better prospect, but if we had given up anything significant to get Cade and then found out he was only 6'6', I'd been pretty disappointed...
That’s the problem with these players not wanting to work out with other teams. Nobody really got to see if Cade was truly his height. oh well, I’m happy with Green now.
can you imagine trading up to get Cade and then realizing he is 2" shorter with no bounce or personality? Some were ready to burn down Clutchfans when Sengun looked a couple inches shorter
im starting to think Detroit saw that Green was a legit 6'6". That's why they were blown away by his workout.
I haven't seen one winner without a personality.. not one.. But I could be mistaken all the best players exude that "something" and I don't get that from Cade. Even Kawhi's perceived absence of a personality has become an interesting one with all his memes
I feel like Duncan's personality was just him being strange and weird. You always saw him back stage at all star games and his personality came through. Parrish you may be right with that one, but he had a bajallion teammates that had plenty of personality and charisma. I think Kareem has personality
Green is not a "legit 6'6". He still looks shorter than Cade, even with whatever shoes they were wearing draft day. Quickly glancing over the posts here today, and I think you all are writing off Cade way too soon. Some of these comments are not gonna age well after Summer League is over, and even worse after a full season.
NBA and NBA Summer league heights are not inflated; They are as legit as you are going to get. Im not writing off Cade at all, Just making observations and writing out my opinions.
NBA official heights might not be inflated, but they are surely rounded to the nearest inch. Look it up. No listings are 1/2 or quarter inches. They are all even inches but yeah, we don’t need official measurements to see Cade fooled the world. Lulz
Summer League heights are about as "legit" as a team wants it to be. The NBA does not monitor these. https://www.nbadraft.net/2021-nba-draft-combine-measurements/ Josh Christopher measured 6'3.25" w/o shoes and 6'4.5" w/ shoes at the combine. Which do you think is more likely: (i) JC grew in an inch in a couple of months or (ii) we measured with shoes and rounded up?
Donte Green and Kelvin Cato say "Hi!". To quote every prospectus in the financial industry, "Past performance is no guarantee of future results". Prognosticating the future after 1 summer league or preseason game is absolutely something that happens every year this time of year, and I can't think of too many instances where it worked out all that well.
I should say, I think JG is at a good height and not undersized as a SG. But he's just not as tall as Cade, who is still significantly bigger (and slower) than your average ball handler.
I read this and all I can think about is how Detroit rounded UP to reach Cade's new tiny height of 6'6 when he was supposed to be 6'8
Who’s writing Cade off? I still think he’s a future all star. Just think his weaknesses, which exist, were on full display in that first summer league game. He isn’t as tall as was advertised, he got more turnovers than assists (like his whole college career), and struggled to beat his man off the dribble.
I don't watch college ball, but I saw the highlights and Cade never looked 6'8" to me, tbh. Maybe some in the media believed it, but I doubt any FO bought it. LaMelo was also hyped up as being 6'8", and he's also 6'6" with shoes. My guess is that, without shoes, Green is 6'4" and Cade is 6'5".
I find it amusing people are obsessing about Cade's height. His summer league debut raised some question marks but height shouldn't be one of them. A player's height isn't important if he has reach. Cade has a 7’0.25 wingspan. That's more than above average for a forward. Draymond who is only 6"6 has a 7"1 wingspan, which is a big reason he can guard bigger than his size. Jrue Holiday is only 6"3 but has a 6"7 wingspan (nearly the same as Jalen Green) allowing him to guard bigger players. Of course wingspan isn't everything as Cade's explosiveness, athleticism, strength are definitely bigger question marks in regards to how he'll play in the NBA.
