yep, but hes soooo much more than just a postup guy...
great hands, great motor, tenacity, positioning and even at perimeter hes often a threat to drive and/or pass...just a good basketball player (almost) all around

IMO there is still a disconnect from many scouts on European players. Luka should have been the #1 pick by how he dominated the best European league when he was 18 years old. Top European leagues have caught up to NBA players, but there seems to be cautious optimism when it comes to productive players with high IQs. The ones that failed are the ones with "potential" in top leagues, or ones with production in lower tier leagues like Avdija.

Another factor is Sengun's build and foot speed. Many thought his game won't translate due to pick and roll defense and being "put on an island". However, there are only a few players in the league like Curry, Harden, KD, Lillard that can render a post player ineffective, and this risk is likely mitigated by Sengun's potential contributions on offense, post/help defense, and communications through being a high IQ player.

Anyway, I felt Sengun was a risk as a top 5, franchise type of player where anything other than multiple all-star appearances would be a failure. After #6/7, there is minimal risk if he is your 2nd or 3rd best player on a contender.

Low key aspect of Sengun that no one has talked about: the bacne indicates he’s still growing!

I don’t think that’s how it’s supposed to work DD. You are supposed to mention Marcus Morris when I give a bad take, not when I discover the next generational big of the NBA.

I tend to agree. He had some unlucky finishes and then just not used to the consistent physicality last night. He will learn to finish better through contact and then also to finish with savvy a la Scola when needed. Too many pump fakes, etc. last night at times. Needs to just go up strong and trust his strength and touch. Could have finished with a reverse across the rim once or twice (to shield the shotblocker) but probably just rushing to get a shot up expecting it to be blocked.

I think he was surprised he could get shots up around the rim even though he was getting fouled so there was a lack of And 1's also. I think he will be fully capable of finishing through contact by mid-season but it will take him a little bit to be a consistent finisher around the rim just like it did for Domantas Sabonis as evidenced by his 44% 2pt shooting as a 20 year old rookie. He is now in the high 50% range for 2pt shooting.

Yes, he is used to finishing through contact in one of the better leagues outside of the NBA, but actually finishing consistently through contact in the NBA will take time. I do think that is one of his strengths as he is a strong and crafty finisher. Just explaining why he went 3-10 and why I expect his FG to start out a little lower than some would predict but then will get better over time.

Let’s throw in some Adelman offensive sets with Sengun as the passer from the top of the key or elbow!

Sengun is going to average double figure assists in a lineup of him, Wood, Tate, Green and KPJ.

Sengun is Jokic-lite. With the potential to average a triple double in his rookie season. No cap. (did I do that right?)

I like this kid a lot but I don’t think you can say their similar prospects luka was playing in the 2nd best league in the world and dominating winning mvp and championships. Luka was very well known years before he entered the draft.

now I agree the mistakes teams made and pundits about him not being able to translate to the NBA because he was seen as unathletic is similar to this kid.

he’s gonna be a legit NBA big.

star I don’t know but he will be a very very solid player imo.

I like his talent he looks the part wish his wingspan was a little longer but it being shorter might be the reason he has good handles and touch so who knows.

I like the Sabonis comparisons I don’t see the joker if I’m being honest but I’d love a sabonis type big one this team would be a great pick at 16.

I think his floor is a Louis scola level guy and that’s a very solid rotation big for any championship team imo.

great pick by Stone as was the guys we got at 23/24 especially Garuba very impressive he made the Spain national team at his age.
