I just want to thank everyone who b****ed about this guy's slow feet. Thanks to your warnings, I was pleasantly surprised by how quickly he moved in these clips.
It might, I honestly haven't watched a bunch of either. But it's not a purpose-built NBA developmental league where you can send guys down and call them up to work on certain things.
Sam Dekker didn’t go to the g league to try to get back in the nba, he went to the Turkish league. The g league is for rookies and players that can’t make it in professional basketball so they are just there to make rookies (and young players) look good. The average g league salary is $50k/year, if you are anyone who’s anyone you are going overseas.
Pretty sure it goes something like NBA > Euroleague > Turkish League > G-League > NCAA in terms of what helps you prepare for NBA level.
By a considerable bit. The Turkish league is just behind the Spanish league as the 3rd best professional basketball league in the world
Tate played in a lesser league. This is just guys that didn't like the pick expressing bitterness and hoping Sengun fails so that they can say they were right.
Cool, so we can send him to the Euroleague to work on PnR defense and 3 pointers for six weeks at a time? No? Maybe the G League, then. Just an option. To be clear, Sengün is the prospect I'm most excited about and I want him to get 35 min. a game ASAP, not the 15 min. he's probably going to get behind Wood and the others to start the season.
That doesn't necessarily mean he isn't flat footed lol. He had trouble finishing around the room as he couldn't get up above the rim well at a stand still.
Sengun is going to be ticking other players off like crazy! His motor is legit and he's going to cause some scuffles with his relentless rebounding. The dude is a better leaper than people want to admit too. He will throw down some dunks before the summer is over. He's a pretty fun mix of Marc and Pau Gasol. Not as tall as either and not as good of a shooter (yet), but he has the chance to be really good!
Well shucks, I hope you're right. But they are TECHNICALLY the vets and he is the rookie, and they need development time, too.
Call this nerves... He has excellent touch, and can actually finish above the rim flat-footed (I've seen multiple clips of him doing just that). If a team ever tries to go small against him, you will see him dominate the glass and put some guys in the basket.
15 mins in the NBA is much more beneficial for player development than 35 min in the g league. He’ll have plenty of time to work on his Pick and Roll defense and 3s at the NBA level. We aren’t a team that’s trying to win right now and Sengun is above the g league level talent and iq wise anyway. It would be a waste of time sending him down.
G league is for guys like Capela or Garuba who are a little raw. Sengun is much more polished even at 19. He needs to get used to the speed and skill of the NBA. He should be the primary backup to Wood and Theis 15-20 minutes a game. He’ll start next year after Wall and Wood are packaged together for a disgruntled star.
