Costco is great not just because of the prices and extras (food court, insurance, vacations, tireshop, gas, return policy, electronics/appliance extended warranty, and on and on) but because the quality and usefulness of the products they stock are always top notch. You can go into Costco and buy a dozen novel items or staple products from brands you've never heard of and it would be a total surprise if more than 1 of them didn't meet or exceed your expectations. Their buyers/product research folks are incredible and really put a lot of time and effort into making sure everything they stock is either fantastic or something you didn't even know you needed. Consequently this also makes Costco extremely dangerous to just go wandering around in to your wallet, lulz.
Yeah, I haven't looked at their insurance in a while. The insurance company they used was Ameriprise back then. I've been pretty happy with Amica, but am probably going to go through a broker to see if I can get some savings on homeowners and auto later this year.
Used Costco on a few cars a while back. Nice option if you hate negotiating but can usually get it cheaper going the traditional route.
Sam's credit card is better than Costco's, too. This may not matter to some (but it should), but I make thousands yearly on cash back. It adds up. Costco Visa: 4% on gas, anywhere 2% on Costco purchases 3% on restaurants and travel 1% on all other purchases Sam's Mastercard: 5% on gas, anywhere 5% on Sam's purchases (2% cash rewards for plus members + 3% cash back) 3% on dining 1% on all other purchases
blew a tire ~6pm local time, had AAA tow my car to the Costco Tire Center. they sold me a new tire and gave me credit on the flat based on some ratio i had previously purchased a set of 4, w 5 yr warranty or 90K mileage i also asked for a tire rotation. even without an appointment, this was all done by 9PM i paid $82 another eg of my Costco membership being invaluable
