He outplayed E.Mobley (3rd Pick) and it is not even close. 3 Assists, 15 Rebounds and the best stat (14 FTs).
I was watching the Green highlights and couldn't keep my eyes off Alperen. He was fighting for position and calling for the ball on every play. Alperen could have very easily had 25 points, but he missed a few layups and free throws. So many things to like, but getting 14 free throws in a summer league game is huge. This kid has the feel of a top 5 pick.
I like him, but he is very young and was not all that quick. He is smart though and if he can be near Luis Scola in his prime that would be great. DD
If you can hear anyone in the background shouting "Senguuuun" anytime he touches the ball that's me. He fumbled a few bunnies and got fouled on a bunch of his gorgeous dropsteps but the effort and skill were on full display. Considering taking him at +5000 for ROY but Jalen might just steal that from him.
Should not be lost is the fact that he was the youngest player on the floor for both teams tonight, and quite possibly the best (or second best after Green).
His weaknesses were on full display. He shot his layups flat footed which is why he missed them all. He can’t shoot and those hard drives won’t work in the NBA once the opponents figured out he can’t shoot and back off. Free throws looked stiff. Also has a low release point which is not encouraging.
His professionalism and mental toughness was very impressive. His defense and rebounding is better than I thought. He did get stuffed easily around the basket on offense. That was concerning. His footwork and polish will get better with experience.
I knew he had talent but i did know he was that physical and held his own on the defensive side. He remind me of Sabonis of Indiana, he is a double-double machine but he can also be a triple threat as well. He just need to work on his outside shooting.
He is not even better than D-Mo to be honest. D-Mo was more agile, taller and shot better than Al P. Granted, Al P is 19 and I see the potential, but he has a long way to go.
You dumb ass this was just game 1 of the summer league games. DMO was never the MVP of his league at 18 years old.
