It had some laugh out loud moments. Didn’t live up to the hype IMO but it wasn’t bad. Story was intentionally over the top. The non-human characters were hilarious. It was sort of a generic super powered characters in R-Rated situations watch, similar to The Boys, done right. Polkadot’s mom was a little disturbing. Cena was great and hilarious. He’s really honed his acting.
For whatever reason, DC characters don't really translate as well in movies with the exception of Batman and his villains. That is why an over the top suicide squad works better than a serious one.
I understand why you say that but I don’t know. I’m sure there are a ton of comparisons you could make. But for example black panther and Wonder Woman. Same movie really.
Except one has a magic lasso and one has awesome tech. Also, the Diane and Wonder Woman disguise thing is stupid AF. Who can't tell that two crazy hot female are the same person.
No spoiler thoughts: I broke this movie in 2 halfs. I stopped after the harley rescue bit you see in the trailers. First half was really spoiled by the trailers and made it a typical intro movie to a sequel about ugly characters you normally wouldn't look twice at. I'd say it was 2.5/5. Wasn't terrible, but slow-ish and predictable. Would prob be 3/5 without the trailer but the trailer is why people gave the movie a second chance. Guess the studios didn't want to bet on word of mouth. The 2nd half was a lot better and more enjoyable. The camera work is top notch. No obvious choppy cuts. Scenes were set up for your eyes to take in absorb. Some plot twists to break up the action and make you wonder what was going on. I'd say it was 5/5 and that would be the part to watch again and notice the details. The shark stole the show for me more than Harley. She was good and thankfully didn't disrupt the ensemble too much like Jennifer Lawrence's Mystique. It also did a good job winning you over with the characters. I'm not sure if it's marvel status but would've probably earned 700+ million at the BO as it's better than Aquaman or Shazaam but might've taken a hit with R rated material.
I don't get why it's sooooo anti-American, like it's unnecessarily anti-American. The movie ok for a rated r action movie. The way the movie starts is pretty ****ed up, Pete Davidson was blonde for a year to be in this movie for ten seconds lol. The movie is actually paced very well, unfortunately almost none of the jokes land but the action sequences make up for that. I don't understand this new thing in movies where showing a guy's dick is considered comedy, if that stopped happening that would be cool, would've been nice to watch this with my kid she loves violent action movies so I know she's going to find a way to see this but it won't be with me. Idris Elba continues to kill every role he takes, John Cena was pretty good too, I'm pumped for the hbomax series. Polkadot man was pretty weak, rat girl was lame too, Street Shark was funny. I usually like Viola Davis but she came off very nasty in this one and maybe that was the intention so bravo. Like I said, besides all the anti-American stuff, it's an okay movie, but if I didn't have time to kill before ufc 265 I never would have watched this movie and I wouldn't have missed anything lol. 5/10
I've seen a few people comment about that..... when did that even happen? I guess I wasn't paying enough attention because I guess I missed that part.
The scene where Cena and Elba massacre the defenseless people in the forest, some dude pops up in a window butt naked with an erection, he's then immediately killed. It didn't add anything to the scene I guess but to say that Cena and Elba were killing indiscriminately but that point was made when Cena poison darted the chick washing dishes or when he stabbed the already dead guy on the table like nine times. It's been creeping in slowly, I'm still weirded out about Bart Simpson skating with his dick out in the Simpson movie, Bart is underage. Like who is the target audience?
People should start sending a message to Hollywood. They thing you guys are stupid Enough to watch a rebooted shitty moving 3 yrs since the last release despite whatever turd they put on the floor stop watching these garbage sequels and remakes
I'm pretty sure the dude didn't have an erection. He was just naked for some reason. That seems to be where the MPAA draws the line on full frontal male nudity. It's okay to show the dong, but not when erect. Just like it seems to be okay for women to be fully nude and see bush, but not actual labia. Not that that really changes your point, just something I've noticed. Overall, I kind of loved this movie. Other than the Nolan Batman movies, it is now easily my favorite DC movie. That's partly because the DC movies have been such garbage. I laughed my ass off during the entire jungle Flag rescue scene. Between the over the top kills to the back and forth between Elba and Cena. It was great. I will echo some of the concerns that the writing from a plot perspective wasn't great. Particularly the final battle. I also didn't like how over the top villainous Waller is made. I thought she was much more even in the first Suicide Squad movie (though most of that one was crap). But I was very happy with the post-credits scene, because I want to see more of what we got in that jungle rescue scene.
Why should we stop if it's entertaining? It's not like I paid money to watch it. I get my HBO max for free.
HBO Max is like my #1 streaming for real. And I never could afford the premium channels growing up. It's so much **** on it, shows, movies, new movies, Real Time, sesame street. Netflix is losing the streaming wars to HBO Max imo.
Diverging demographics. HBO: Adult, quality Netflix: Kids, murder documentaries, so-so movies Prime: **** you didn’t ask for but are pleasantly surprised with once in a while Disney+: Marvel, Star Wars, kids
Love all the DC animated stuff. Spent a few months watching the various Batman, Superman, and Justice League series and movies. The 2 currently going on: Harley Quinn and Young Justice (both have new seasons coming up) are great. Plus, live action Titans starts next week I think. Doom Patrol later this year. They have announced new Live action series too.
