I'm almost finished. It's a competent film, it's fine, but the gushing this joint is getting... I dont know about that. Some of these scenes are dragging like a mfer. I came here, before this film was even done to see what you guys thought, that's how much it's dragging for me. When someone gives this an "it's okay." review online, they get disliked to oblivion, lol. I agree it's aight.
Watched it last night, enjoyable for sure but far from perfect. Some of the sequences are just beautifully framed and shot, Harley's escape is a major highlight. Action is a lot bloodier and gorier than you'd expect, you get the impression that DC let Gunn do whatever the hell he wanted and it works for the film. Biggest issue I had with the film was the script wasn't as strong as it could have been, all the characters have seem to have some sort of mommy or daddy issues a recurring theme for Gunn. I really got the vibe that he was using some of the stuff from his first movie Slither but on a much larger scale especially in the final act. Overall it enjoyable but there was some story editing that could have made it tigher. B
For someone who absolutely hated the original - seems like they tried to do some Avengers **** with big names who didn't match, lack of chemistry and just a mindless plot - but who loved the Harley Quinn movie, is this enjoyable or very much like the original? Is it actually a complete new story, the first movie retold or what?! Seems like a cash grab and to have a movie from 2016 rebooted is just hilarious not to take seriously in the first place.
I thought it was a good movie. I think I would have liked it quite a bit more if I had seen it in a movie theater, but it was good enough. That scene with Harley Quinn was definitely the highlight for me.
It's a continuation but the tone of the movie is completely different. It's not even trying to be serious the slight bit. Even sillier than GOTG
Just finished it, and it dragged for me, too. I have no idea why this movie is so high on Rotten Tomatoes. I have so many negatives with this movie. I get that it's a popcorn flick and that you're supposed to turn your brain off before viewing the movie, but maaaaan. The scene / screentime with Harley and that military dude seemed completely unnecessary and shoehorned in, all because Harley needed to be something of a focal point, for at least the first act. "Your rebellious personality against the US really drew me to you!" Really? Harley Quinn goes from being jailed in a cave to a potential wife in like 5 minutes? All because she displays anti-American tendencies? She literally used an RPG to blow up some of your troops. Script was really weak, here. Character development was also an issue. Polka Dot man has mommy issues, and was supposed to be comic relief. The mom visual was funny the first time it showed up, but that's it. Harley got too much focus, and wasn't as...'Harley' as she could have been, despite giving her a lot of screentime. Didn't really care for Bloodsport's daughter issue. My biggest problem, though? Spoiler It was supposed to be the Suicide Squad vs Starro, but turned into rats vs Starro. Didn't even need most of the squad there. Just needed Ratcatcher 2. Starro is supposed to be the big villain in this movie, but it was killed by...by rats. Apparently, rats are able to do more damage to this alien being, but bullets aren't. And why didn't Starro release more spore things to combat the rats? At least infect some, to make the rats fight each other. The whole facehugging thing was supposed to be super cool, but it barely registered as a "holy ****" factor.
At least I followed the basic plot of this one for the most part, unlike the last one. Felt like the worst parts of Wanted meets Evolution meets GotG. At least Spoiler the giant walking ferret ended up being a minor role. If that thing didn't go off screen when it did I don't know if I could have finished this.
It’s effectively a sequel with mostly new characters but a few old ones also — not a reboot. It’s basically a new story, so not essential to have watched the first one. It’s funnier and more gory than the first one. Doesn’t take itself as seriously, but some nice touching moments too. Definitely an improvement.
DC seems to be getting alot of love and credit based on the curve The whole . .. It's better than what they have been doing . .. thing Rocket River
Agreed. It was a million times better than the first suicide squad movie. WE watched the honest trailer of that one before and I almost forgot how terrible that movie was. This one was nice. Not the greatest plot. but I liked many character interactions, and I laughed a lot. Loved the Rat and King Shark. Overall a nice movie. Not great but better than 90% of DC movies. So a win overall for them.
I hate the non-Nolan DC stuff. Didn't love Guardians 1 or 2 (but they establish interesting characters I care about well). Never laugh at anything in Deadpool movies. I thought this was better than all that stuff.
Same. Robbie's Harley actually sucks IMO. She plays him like a female Deadpool but that's not what Harley is. Cena did really well. I'm expecting he'll get a TV show playing Peacemaker.
Some things worked, some things didn't work. I liked Harley's stance on red flags when it comes to potential suitors. In all, it's a million times better than the first one and that might make me like it more than I would on its own. I'd say for sure worth watching though.
