    This actually isn't true

Plenty of players are willing to sacrifice to chase rings, so long as they get to go to Miami, New York, or California.

This just blows my mind. The exact opposite of what I would want to do.

how are you going to get back to winning, when he's not going to get you there. they didn't play to lose. They loss because the team is that bad and will be again

Why would we want to give up draft picks for Simmons unless they are picks 10 years from now? I would trade Wall and/or Gordon for him. But our own picks will be good for at least 2 years. Nets' picks will be good after a year or two. These are premium assets to build your team.

I think the problem for Philly with Simmons is that now everybody knows he's not a centerpiece to build a team. So rebuilding teams don't want him. He would be good complementary player for a contender who already has enough fire power to win. But contenders don't want his bloated contract because their salary space is already occupied by stars.

So the only teams that would be interested are mediocre teams that are going nowhere and hope to get a quasi-star just for the sake of it, kind of like the Rockets between Yao and Harden. But this kind of teams typically don't really have enticing assets to offer.

Another option is to swap bad contract for bad contract, kind of like Wall for Westbrook. That's why Wall for Simmons makes sense.

Those draft picks might not be good now that KD will be in Brooklyn for a while.

With another high pick next year. Then getting a decent player in FA in place of Wall’s contract perhaps you could just use those picks for role players. Aim for good defensive players or elite shooters to go with hopefully a few all stars already on the team.

Aren’t u the guy who said you’d take Kispert with the #2 overall pick? Now you’re really trying to argue giving up 4 picks for Simmons?

Even if he is going to stay (which is no guarantee) KD is 33 years old, just came back from major injury. You think he will still be in his prime two years from now?

I give the Nets a 2 year window to contend for a chip. After that, the Big 3 will very likely be either too old or no longer with the team.

KD had a great year this year. Did you even watch the playoffs?

being the unicorn he is, I'd say an easy yes. He'll still be an all nba/all star caliber player 2 years from now. He’s a top 2 mvp favorite next year. So all of a sudden a year after that, he’s suddenly just too old. people are acting like these guys are already 40. they're 29,31,32.

So barring injuries or harden/kyrie retiring are those picks garbage? Asking for a friend

Taking the picks has yielded a #2 pick off the bat. Was that a combination of luck and circumstance? Sure but we should be in the running for a top ten-ish next season because we took the NJ picks package.

It was the right move for us to find a direction, to rebuild. The argument is if we could've done better elsewhere. EVen flipping Simmons like we did for oladipo who we got nothing but money savings for an owner for.
The picks are hope. they aren't guaranteed, thats wht I mentioend before that New orleans at least got a lottery and lottery prospects, we got hope. IT could work out and I hope its like a celtics situation, but as of now its projected to be late first round. Thats what Shamet Got traded for this summert and thats what we also traded Jarret llen for. Allen is similiar, I don't think he fits with us ideally although he is a young talent, but he is very tradeable even at 17-19 million hell be getting paid the next couple years.
