I’ve been really enjoying Jalen Green since we drafted him, watched several clips of his game. The only real issue I’m seeing with Jalen Green that I’m concerned about is the shooting form. Chicken wing with a lot of wasted movement up top. Reminds me of Tyrese Maxes. Maybe He’s going to be a streaky shooter, feast or famine.
It is funky, it stood out in that clip the Rockets posted. As long as it works and he can get it off at an NBA pace.
Jalen Green works hard in the gym. His form isn't going to change much, he is a natural talent. He will be able to get it off.
I think as he matures and gets more reps in Green will be able to refine his mechanics. He definitely has the work ethic and touch required to become a great shooter—and his free throw numbers back that up, in my opinion.
What’s most important is that you see high arch, high releases and high elevation. Add to all of that a quick release and we’re in good shape. Not Steph Curry shape, but good shape.
Good shooters can be made, great shooters are born. He got the confidence, needs reps and consistency.
He really reminds me of prime NBA shooting guards expect he doesnt shoot above the head fade always like mj kobe tmac etc. His form is aiming to be more of a Curry i guess. He can fix some things but he should be pretty good shooter in a couple of years. With his first step all he needs to do is knock down open shots i dont need him pulling up like Dame
Yeah its always funny people dont understand you have to have elite born talent to be in a group of best shooters. All those dudes in NBA probably go in practice 9/10 anyway. The real ingame pressure and tired legs verify real shooters
I wasn't sure how good Dell was but it helps when your dad was a 'great' shooter and your bro Seth is currently the second or third best shooter. Shooting mechanics and form is crucial, if he can't get it right in his first 2 years, odds are he never will. He'll have to completely abandon his old form and work on a new approach. https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/c/curryde01.html
I'd gladly take his shooting form over Ben Simmons. Kidding aside, Kobe didn't even have good shooting in his rookie year (not comparing Green to a legend though) and I'm sure he will get some tweaks here and there to his form. Kid is a hard worker and it would be fun to see his development from year one.
Good TS% with high degree of difficulty on many shots Has the step back 3 of Harden at age 19; which will set up his drives. I expect him to work on his craft. He is ultra competitive
Hearing all over this board about his “great” work ethic and competitiveness. Let’s hope it is true, as it certainly never shows on the defensive end of his game. If it is indeed true (and we truly have no idea) then he’ll maximize his potential. If not, then watch out below.
I agree, shooting form is crucial. If you look at Cade back to his high school days, he’s shooting mechanics was not good, but somehow he developed and adjusted his form just in 1year, and then he shot 40% from 3 in college, smoother form and became one of the best shooters in this draft. In other words, I believe great shooter can be made, if you keep on practicing with great shooting mechanics. You don’t need very good shooting form to be a good shooter, but you need it if you want to be a great and consistent shooter.
Most stars have had their shooting forms tweaked if you really pay attention to their early career to prime to end of career. Changes in strength and then conserving energy to loss of lift all play a part.
I really hope one day Jalen could be able to develop Kobe/MJ like fadeaway, with his athleticism, that would be unguardable.
If Stephen Silas, John Lucas can correct KJ Martin Jr and JaeSean Tate shooting 3 Point Form. They can correct Jalen Green form also. Usman Garuba is far behind in shooting. The Staff really need fix his whole form. Josh Christopher has a hitch in his shot, they need to correct it. Alperen Sengun just needs repitition and learn from other Stretch Big Men. Hopefully Hakeem can work with him. Alperen Sengun would be Hakeem Olajuwon student. Donatas Montiejunas and Luis Scola are the other skilled Big Men that have so many Post Up Skills.
