As a diehard Astros fan, I must sayi hate that the scandal has taken away the adoration that was poured all over this squad when we won it all… the post game coverage after the WS was glorious, the fawning over our talented core, the adoration of Altuve talent and humbleness. For me, that’s the “punishment”. Fine.

At the same time, it is freaking enjoyable and hilarious that this squad keeps sticking it to the dodger and NYY fan base like the evil villain that just won’t die, the bad guy that is always one step ahead of the posse. We are Lucy and we keep pulling the football away from Charlie Brown, again and again. We are Jerry and Tom keeps getting smashed by the hammer, bitten by the big dog, running into the wall. I cannot remember any like this, except perhaps the NE Patriots. And we need to win another title to truly get to that level.

The last 5 champions- KC Royals (no longer contender), Cubs (implodes championship players) and Nationals (Max playing Dodgers). Red Sox managed by former Astros coach. We are still winning......

Purposeful propaganda in order to incite violence?

Plenty of inaccuracies throughout... along with failing to mention anything about the Astros somehow overcoming not knowing the signs to win 2 out of the 4 games in LA in 2017, let alone their continued dominance of the league since the scheme was abandoned.

If the media continues to mislead and try and generate reactions... fans will continue to be stupid about it.

As often as the mound visits happened in that WS, it would be hard to imagine anyone stealing signs, and the noise would seem impossible to hear specific sounds.

DP: When can we…do we move on from the Astros booing?

JV: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. There’s no question about it. The idea that they were the only one doing something wrong just baffles me. I agree with you completely.

DP: But if Altuve gets to first base…

JV: Yes. Very fond of him. I like him a lot.

DP: What kind of conversation do you have?

JV: I’ve had lots of conversations with him. We talk about hitting almost entirely. He’s one of the best hitters…

DP: Like no garbage can mentions? Like you can’t even have a little subtle dig, can you?

JV: No because he came out and said that…listen, he came out and said that he had no part in it. I have to believe a person based on…I’m assuming he’s telling the truth so I’m gonna believe him and we move on from there.

DP: Hypothetically if you knew what the pitch was? How would you do if I said fastball?

JV: I’d still be hitting home runs. We’d be at game ten right now.

DP: You’d have 10 consecutive home runs?

JV: If I knew what was coming?

    DP: Yes.

JV: Yeah, I’d be at game ten by now.

DP: But some guys don’t want to know.

JV: I don’t want to know because I don’t want to cheat.

DP: So if somebody is at 2nd base and they can signal in where the location is…

JV: Let me phrase that correctly. If there was a tip from the pitcher, I’d want to know. As far as like any sort of complicated cheating strategy, no I’m not for that. If I had the choice to know and to not know, of course that’d be an advantage but I’d been offered that before in my career and I’ve passed on it. It’s unpredictable. Sometimes they get it wrong. Sometimes they guess the wrong pitch and all the sudden you’re taking a strike down the middle and thinking to yourself “I can’t deal with this randomness.”

DP: When a pitcher has a tell though? What do you do with that?

JV: You take advantage of it.

DP: Do you share it with your teammates? “Hey, when he does this with his glove, he’s throwing fastball.”

JV: We all do that. That’s a tell.

    DP: That’s OK?

JV: Of course that’s OK. You’re not gonna oblivious to something that’s clear in your face.

DP: Give me someone retired that had a tell?

JV: I don’t think I remember. Randy Johnson had a tell. If he thought you knew what was coming, he would hit you. That was his tell. That’s a tell from Randy Johnson. He’d hit you happily.

Irresponsible of Dan Patrick not to ask the follow up question of who else was doing it and how many teams are doing it. I suspect Votto would not have answered the first.

Wow, didn't know much about Joey Votto before now, but I definitely like him. I also think it is a good point he makes about stealing signs not being full proof. On top of not being able to do it on every pitch, you also can't do it accurately on every pitch. Which is probably why studies indicate that the cheating really didn't help that much, overall. Because if players sometimes knew and got hits, other times they may have thought they knew, but were wrong and got outs because of it. In the end, maybe that all averaged out.

The Butthurt is unreal online today. I find it hilarious. Dodgers and their fans expecting to cry themselves to victory.

Joey Votto is a GD legend. One of my favorite non-Astros of this era.
