Evaluating players from highlight reels is like evaluating the taste of a burger by watching an advertisement where someone bites into it with a massive smile. Also fans tend to evaluate players from a tiny number of performances. For example KPJ scored 50. Yet his stats are actually lower than the previous year which dropped to an abysmal 31% from 3 on poor 42% overall shooting. Maybe he turns out great as he is indeed very young. Maybe better players around him will lift his play and change his trend. Fans see that 50pt highlight reel performance and think we have a budding James Harden. Best measure is on the court contributing to typical nba games. This is something these 4 rookies have not experienced. Maybe we'll get a small but better taste of their NBA potential in the summer league.
5 Theis/ Sengun 4 Wood/ Garuba 3 Tate/ KJ/ House/ Nwaba 2 Green/ Gordon/ Thomas 1 Wall/ KPJ/ Augustin G-league: J Christopher That’s 15. I think at least one of House, Gordon, or Augustine has to be moved before the season for playing time purposes. And didn’t Stone say he’s looking for a shooter with the MLE?
You forgot to add Nwaba & Theis on the defensive end as both can be above average defenders in the league. Green also mentioned how he wants to make it in the All-defensive team so hoping he walks the talk.
Not gonna lie, it's gonna be a bumpy ride. But so long as fans, management and the players don't lose site, i can see us developing into a really good team in years to come. We look to have a well balanced squad that will be exciting to watch.
for the 7 people who have voted 'NO' so far - you guys have got to start enjoying life a little more. Gee Whiz!
My "no" vote should be "yes", sorry on that - unfortunately I managed to mess up voting... Anyway, Definitely looking forward to the team/development/more Rockets basketball seasons to come, and while it might not seem like a lot, it's going to be great because the team can grow together and I think it'll be nice to have a team hopefully peaking as the torch is passed on to the next great players.
To me, the best case scenario is - Jalen Green's "gym rat" rep sets the stage for all our young guys and they all take the opportunity to push each other - go hard in practices, spend more time working on their game and paying attention to the details...and Silas is there to be that teacher and we grow a real team first environment very different from the Harden centric past. I would almost prefer to lose as a team than win as individuals like we did in the Harden era.
I enjoyed watching harden. I hate he screwed us over but I liked his game and still watch BKN highlights to see him do his thing.
