Youve created a straw man fallacy and are now trying to make this my argument when it was YOURS all along. Theis WILL save wear and tear on Wood. FACT. We never discussed past injuries, stop making shet up. SMH
I mentioned that Wood was going to be injury-prone, then you replied to my post with the wear and tear argument for Wood. And now we're here. In any case, I agree with you that Theis will save wear and tear on Wood, but I don't think it will make a huge difference, personally. And I'm not saying that you're saying that it will make a huge difference. I'm just saying that's what I think.
You know people are internetting too hard when they start talking about logic, ad hominem, straw man, or cognitive biases lol.
Extraordinarily exquisite post Well done Stone should use it as his outline to explain this signing at the press conference to introduce him
To be honest I had never heard fo this guy before, the first question I asked myself is why did we sign him?
I still say Theis is not a shot blocker and he is only 6'8 but he does have some assets to his game such as he is physical, he does alot of stuff that does not show up on the stat board. He is kinda a GLUE guy, he does the dirty work for the team. I remember when we played Nicholas Claxton from the Nets and he overpowered and dominated us on the board. Claxton was very physical and kinda took over the game(both games) with his inside scoring and interior rebounds. Well, I just seen Theis played Brooklyn this year and I believe he was playing with the Bulls and he just manhandle Claxton and the Nets Interior. I have seen other games that he kinda a BULLY....he likes to play BULLY BALL!!!! I like this because I think our team is kinda SOFT. Theis is not dirty player but he is physical and he does not bag down. He is a average shooter, high IQ basketball player and a good passer. At the end of a game I would like to see: Gordon, Nwaba, Tate, Garuba and Theis. Nothing would get pass them....I guess I'm on the THEIS'S BANDWAGON!
Theis plays a lot bigger than his listed height, he has a short neck that doesn’t fit the rest if his body
At first I didn't like this move, but now I'm trying to understand it. KO beasted for the Rockets last season, but my preference would have been to use the cap space to take a bad contractt for a 1st rounder. It doesn't matter what we do for the next 2 years, as long as we lose and develop. KO will hurt both of those things. If the Rockets are ahead of schedule and competitive in year 3, then Theis is an expiring contract for the deadline. I think Theis's main value is that he never calls for the ball and will do little to no creating. This will allow our young core to develop. Rockets may feel like this a PJ-esque type of signing. Theis will do all the dirty work to let the Rockets real assets shine. KO puts up 25 night, that's 25 more points that can go to Green, Porter, Sengun, etc. The wave of young players need to be working people, not watching KO do it. I guess in summary, KO plays so well he takes the spotlight, Theis will shine the spotlight on the kids.
and Olynyk has a team option for his 3rd year, meaning if we re-signed him we'd have the ability for ultimate cap flexibility for 2023 I'm not a Thies hater, I just would have rather kept Olynyk (I'm an Olynyk lover). You can't post a stat showing Olynyk was a better value and backtrack lol
It's not really that hard to understand the move. By not re-signing Olynk and no doubt trying to get rid of Wall, Ego, and maybe even House, Stone is setting the table for KPJ, Wood, Green, Sangun, Garuba, and JC getting as much minutes and experience as possible. Any of those first 3 are on the team, we will probably be forced to play them each significant minutes, if only just to inflate their value. Unlike KO, Theis is actually pretty darn good at D and can pass tips along to Garuba and Sangun as well.
Theis is a good defender and a good fit with players like Wood, Porter and Green getting heavy minutes. He is a clear upgrade defensively over KO… offensively he can hit 3’s if the spacing is good and he hustles hard, but KO is better. I think Theis fits better than KO with this group. Stone clearly wants to upgrade the defensive talent on the roster.
I love KO, but him and wood side by side were unplayable. This is them stopping water on the way to the rim:
