    Computer makers just need to innovate more to improve efficiency.

    Lol, though I don't think you meant it sarcastically.

    it's the DEMAND of high power gaming PCs that's fueling this.

    Not some sucker playing Solitaire

    Part of it was jokingly. Part of it was serious.

    Sometimes these requirements are a bit whacky. But usually, you get plenty of time to meet them.

    I'm thinking Dell just messed up here. The requirements came into effect on 7/1/21 and they now just start stopping the shipment? I don't see other OEMs saying they won't ship to these states due to these requirements so it doesn't sound like an industry issue. Dell also said they will meet or exceed the energy eff requirements in the new models.

    This tech YouTuber does a good job of explaining exactly what's going on. So far just about everyone in this thread is not understanding the reason behind this. No, it's not because pcs are too powerful.

    That’s because these are cheap suckers with Acer and Gateway PCs playing Everquest
    @Ziggy

    it’s also what I said , you can skip the loophole by building your own PC with super megawatt consuming graphics cards

    State is too dumb to figure out that’s what these rich kids do anyway

    For all of CA’s faults (no pun intended), getting 2 fewer frames per second on video games is the least of her government’s transgressions. Heck, this is not even the most annoying thing within Title 20/24 morass—that title belongs to IMHO shoving unrealistic lightbulb standards down our throats and forcing us to live with flickering LED lights (in some applications).
