I think a move to gather more future trading chips (8-12 million salary) with an eye on roster improvement

I’ll be very disappointed if we don’t bring Garuba over. We’ve had problems with Real Madrid before, so far better to get the kid here and getting minutes in our system. I agree that it’s what we’ll do.

Where I differ is I think Garuba will get rotation minutes sooner rather than later next season, and in Houston. He’s that good a defender. I often call these young players “kids,” but Garuba doesn’t look or play like one. He might initially go back and forth from the Rockets and the Vipers, but he’ll end up sticking with Houston, in my opinion.

This. And it helps coaches when they have veteran guys that can be coaches out on the floor. Somebody needs to know how playing in the NBA works and how to make the correct reads and rotations. Otherwise you just have young guys teaching other young guys bad habits.

Unlike Sengun, who profiles to me as Bill Walton with arthritis, Garuba looks to me ready to be a Draymond Green-lite, or even "-plus." Really like this pick.

i doubt we'd make the playoffs with him. We need guys like this or wood and sengun will be unhappy to do the dirty work and may want out after their contracts are up. it lets them focus on what they are good at, offense.
he looks like a better defender than draymond...just needs to hit that open 3.

I've mentioned Aron Baynes trade and D Theis as the fall back plan.

Fall back plan of Theis helps this team a lot.

We have to give Silas a chance

We have to give our young kids a chance in case they might surprise and actually
out hustle the competition. Interior player on the cheap (less than $10M) who can set
screens, pass from the top of the key, rebound some, alter some shots goes a long way.

Olynyk might get $18M attention.....out of Tilmans range as long as Wall is getting $44M

Was just about to say Theis is a poor man's Baynes. I really wish we could retain Kelly, guess they know he will get a deal we can't possibly offer. Oh well..

I think we have to keep DJ Augustine around as a mentor to KPJ. I rather use the TE. Go ahead and trade House to whoever. Despite the losing, DJ seemed to enjoy being here in Houston, similar to Kelly, and although those guys could of been selfish, they chose to buy in and help groom the young guys. I don't like letting productive veterans like that go considering that we need to help these young guys become men. It's not just about the games themselves, but how to conduct yourself in practice, how to work on your conditioning, essentially how to be a professional. That kind of mentorship is invaluable and I don't believe you can just sign any veteran to bring that.

I would agree, but from what I'm hearing the league is planing on going
back to 13 active spots for each game instead of the 15 they used because
    of Covid situation.

    1) Wall
    2) Eric Gordon
    3) Porter
    4) Jalen Green
    5) Kenyon
    6) Tate
    7) Khyri Thomas
    8) Wood
    9) Garuba
    10) Sengun
    11) Josh Christopher
    12) Theis
    13) (low level free agent SF? PF? C? for about $2M....Kanter was 11 pts/ 11 rebs in 24 mins,
Gorgi Dieng, Jeff Green, JaMychal Green Gerald Green )

Would Augustin be content as 14th or 15th roster spot and be inactive?

TPE is tweeted as being used in SnT.....I don't even know if the Rockets can send
out anyone if using that? I'm just spit balling because we have too many players

I have seen that the Rockets will probably be going with 14 roster players and the
2 Dual Players (one being Matthew Hurt)

I think Kelly does move on for a bigger pay day. Somewhere like Detroit.

We've all already learned how to pronounce Alperen Sengun, but will forget about Jackie Theis. If I were paid $8M a year to sit in the corner, call me whatever you like.

You really wanna make the playoffs the year Banchero is available and we have our own pick? Lol

Now that I think about it this is a good move cuz downgrading from KO to Theis prob means we are losing more games.

We need to suck 1 more year, next year ok, playoffs w/e is fine. But this year at least we need to suck. Y'all have seen the benefit of having 1 sucky year when you have a deep ass draft. Next year is even deeper according to most accounts.

Yep, because it means Jalen Green is that dude.

Rookies that take their teams to the playoffs...

    Magic. Bird. Wilt...

If the Rockets make the playoffs and Green is playing the main role in doing that it means he's a REALLY special player.

Every year dudes get hyped to the moon. Saw someone say Cade is the next Lebron...playing that lotto every year is exactly that, the lotto, eventually you'll want these guys to make it the playoffs. why not next year?

I’ve always liked Theis. He is just a solid all around player who hustles.
