Guess we will be one of the few teams staying out of the dance. Pitching still doesn't really blow my skirt up.
We have a lot of question marks. Is framber regressing? How many innings for Garcia? Is greinke going to hold up? Which odorizzi is the real one?
Well the Cubs really are gutting their team and honestly the prospect haul isn't all THAT impressive. The did likely get a long term starting second baseman that can hit for average and do little else.... Overall this has been a buyers deadline. The Rockies have now seen Turner, Baez and others dealt... they should know what the actual market is.
Which starting pitcher does move the needle? Can't get the one that vetoed any chance of coming here.
lol getting 2 closers to shore up the bullpen doesn’t blow your skirt up? 28 teams would love to be in the same position as Houston.
They are not going to go over the tax line for a minor upgrade... and that isn't for financial reasons either, it has to do with other penalties. Other than CF and C, they are locked in on offense and really don't need anymore #3 starters.... so that means they either go big or go home, and looking at what is available, they are likely going home without a big deal. Morton interested them but ATL isn't selling..... Scherzer was California or bust....... and Kimbrel cost the White Sox a starting second baseman under long term control.... also the Reds aren't selling off either. So that leaves not much left.
Maton seems alot like the other relievers we already got... alot of strikeouts, and alot of walks. Doesn't make sense to deal Straw for him.
