Also - with Stone calling him best defensive player in the world outside of the NBA — shots fired at the Mobley Mob.

So I would expect they make him shoot 3s for one hour before or after each practice - he doesn't have to do too much on offense. Just hit corner 3s and score in transition - he just needs to keep the deffense honest. If he can get a legit 3pt shot he could become an ultimate role player in the Draymond Greene way.

Funny that we drafted 3 one way players - two, that are only good on offense and one that is only good on defense. I really hope, that each of them can become at least servicable on the other end.

But for this pick: I really like it!

Well any GM will say they picked this amazing guy who’s the best this or that. Garuba is a prospect, a good one, but to think he’s this amazing defensive player remains to be seen.

Well, I mean, he is an amazing defensive player, but he's a 6'8 center who can't shoot at all.

Will he griw a bit more? Will he learn how to shoot at an acceptable level for a center?

Those are the things that remain to be seen imo

Let’s see him play against NBA talent. Offensively definitely needs major improvement. He’s young though we need to be very patient.

It's not like he's coming from the G league or China, the Spanish league is arguably the second best league in the world behind the NBA.

Obviously it'll still be a leap, but he's faced quality opponents, so I think it's safe to say his defense will translate pretty well....it's everything else that is the question mark

Shades of Mbah a Moute, especially if he can add a more consistent 3.

As far as his Olympic play right now, Garuba doesn't get many chances and his role is very defined--play defense. Against Argentina, he was on the court at the end of halves to keep the Gasols and Willy H. out of foul trouble.

But he knows his rotations and looks like he belongs. Paired with a guard like Ricky Rubio, he's a threat to score at the rim.

If we had answers for those questions Garuba would be a lotto pick.

that’s the good thing about prospects that are 19 years old

Garuba has played two years in Spain's top league. One has got to think that his Spanish coaches were drilling him hard in 3 point shooting.

As is, opposing NBA coaches will want Garuba to shoot as many threes as he can and will play hack-a-Garuba late in close games.

3 point and free throw shooting are a teachable skills, so there is hope.

And if not, an enforcer, brutish Orcket at 23 is awesome value. Bring Usman into F up anyone messing with our pretty guards and our skinny Wood.

Goon and Usman are going to sit on heads out there, I promise.

I do like that we got some thickness with those two. Both seem to have some aggressiveness too

Yeah, we are not going to be getting pushed around out there anymore. Usman and Goon are about that life.

When those thick bigs come a knocking, Usman and Goon come a rocking!

I always go back to that winter night in 2013 when some 6'6 scrub from the warriors wanted to instigate a fight because the Rockets launched a barrage of threes. It would be another 2 seasons after that game for said scrub to establish himself at age 25. Garuba is almost already there at age 19. He just has to adjust to the thespians of the league and their directors aka nba referees.

+6 wingspan is freaky. dude loves to play defense. Clean up man on the break. Capable of hitting the open shot. He will be a much needed glue guy for us.

Its rare to draft a defensive players from overseas, as normally overseas leagues are more focusing on scoring.

Being said that, I am totally fine with this pick at this position, it makes more sense than drafting someone from the SEC team bench or some white power forward or C from the west coast teams.
