You stick it to Tilman and you stick it to the team I like to root for. If there is a way to stick it to Tilman and the Rockets do well, I pick that option. I dont have an overwhelming hate for Tilman anyway. Most Billionaires are bad people. no amount of hate is going to make them less rich. Plus, it feel like (to me) Morey abandoned us and left us holding the bag... and then tried to screw us even further by trying to sell us Ben Simmons.
Stone is pulling the trigger at the right time and place. The problem with rebuilding is if your assets and picks convert at different times, you'll perpetually be stuck in mediocrity. Danny Ainge made that mistake with asset hoarding, and Presti is still stuck in the mindset of trading assets for more assets which is how they lost Harden in the first place. Rockets have a solid young core before the draft, and they loaded up with even more high potential players. Trading away future picks with questionable value that won't be realized until after 4-5 years down the line for a high potential young player now is exactly what they should be doing. Funny enough, the Thunder is an example of the value of aligning your rebuilding window together. They drafted Durant, Westbrook, Harden Ibaka and Green. They picked out these high value players within a 3 year window, and became way too good after that to get any more lottery picks. If it wasn't for the poor decision of trading Harden (another example of trading asset for the sake of more asset, instead of pulling the trigger), they would have multiple championships by now. Rockets should aim to do the same, target a losing window for another 2 years which would be enough time to pick out a few more high potential players, and determine if we have a superstar on the roster. Then by year 3-4, if we made the right picks, the roster should be good enough to at least go for 40+ wins.
Bygones. It's not like Maori sabotaged the Rox but whatever gets you going I guess. He did get cute toward the end. Stone did work on many trades, acquisitions when Morey was here. It's not like Stone was not involved in any of those. I guess you have to laugh at him too sporadically.
A++ Draft, I honestly have never seen this type of great selections before. Jalen Green and Alperen Sengun Both Can be Franchise Pieces. Usman Garuba has Serge Ibaka Potential, Defense, High Motor Josh Christopher can be a 6th man, a hard worker, high IQ
If you dont like that they had to pick Chris for Green then how you can like Green as your pick at all?
I'd want Wall out no matter who the Rockets picked, but with Green being the pick, Wall is in the way of him starting and I don't think that situation can remain.
I mean that kinda throws shade on Greens intangibles if they felt the need to pick the christopper just to make him happy
How well do y’all think Morey would’ve handled this past year if Harden demanded a trade while he was still GM
