Their fans too. I feel bad for Cade but I’m happy we’re getting our guy. Jalen is going to put on a show this year.
I really have no idea why they keep planting stories in the media in order to field trade offers. It’s not like the offers are going to get any better the more rumors there are that they’re unsatisfied with the #1 pick. Amateurs.
I think the Pistons got tired of getting shitty offers for the first pick, so they leaked this to get the best avaliable offers.
Of course he’s going to put on a show because he’s a highlight reel, but he won’t contribute to a whole lot of winning. He doesn’t make his teammates better and he’s a poor defender, but he’ll be on SportsCenter Top 10!
I’m glad to hear we’re not throwing the sink at them to move up one spot. If they really think kpj is the real deal at pg then green is the perfect guy to pair with him.
Way to keep a positive attitude about a guy that has a very high ceiling but we don’t really know too much about. Time will tell. There’s a reason why the pro analysts talk in hypotheticals versus absolutes. Speaking with such certainty about unknown quantities can often leave the speaker looking like an ass.
Thing about posting/having opinions like this, it's a lose/lose situation. Firstly, you sound like you WANT him to be a failure (weird if we do draft him, do you not want us to do well?) and can't remotely fathom in your mind that a 19 yr old player might actually get better and develop into something special. Do you really want to be one of those pathetic ass "fans" who roots for your team/players to fail just so you can say "I told you so?" Have you never thought about looking at the positives, realising you're probably not that great a talent scout or you'd be doing it for a living, and maybe, just maybe having a little bit of hope and letting yourself just simply enjoy the excitement of having a super good pick in the draft in the first time since forever and being positive for the future? What am I saying? I forgot which forum I'm on for a second, of course you didn't.
No, I don’t want him to be a failure. I’m not enamored by a highlight reel. Mobley is just the better all around player.
I think Detroit was trying to get added value by trading down. They had their eye on another player, but there was no way to find out if that mystery player would get past Houston. Detroit knows they could have gotten a plethora of 1st round draft picks, but could they get their other targeted player, be it Green, Mobley, or Suggs. Essentially they had no way to determine that Houston would not scoop up their target. I kept hearing they wanted Green just as bad as they wanted Cade, some in the organization seemed to want Green over Cade. If this report is true, then Detroit played it smart and didn't risk it. Cade is the right choice for tonight (I think a consensus #1 pick for even the other 31 teams in the league), but might not be such as consensus top player of this draft in 3 years.
All the offers are going to Cleveland right now, everyone knows Green is going to Houston and no one wants to trade up for him.
Woj will be revealing the whole draft order by 4pm... ESPN gonna be wondering why no one tunes into the draft
