I wonder if the first deal for Graveman and Montero lit the fire under the Marlins to accept the Garcia deal? We went from desperate to loaded pretty quickly.
I think it may also have been we were working on a package deal for Marte and Garcia. Then Oakland blew everyone out of the water and killed that idea. They reset the deal for Garcia only and that's what we got done with Miami.
Getting Marte would have absolutely stacked the line up! Having 8 out of the 9 lineup players with .800 + OPS would have been a killer row line up for the rest of the league. Still very stoked about our current line up, but wow, if the Astros had gotten their hands on Marte for this stretch run..
That is kind of my whole point, which is why I don't think the loss spurred him on to make a trade. I think he was looking down the barrel of one anyway. Regardless, I am very happy with the moves so far.
Oh for sure. I just want home field throughout. Staying hot going into the playoffs goes hand in hand with that. Stros can do both.
HeHe ... getting kinda antsy to talk about the 2 best teams in baseball squaring up tonight in WS preview! Let me get a series thread baby!
I'm a little anxious to see how they handle the NL home game. They've been giving Yordan time in the outfield, but I don't know I'd want him there in either expansive field in SF or LA. My prediction is that he becomes PH extraordinaire.
