Drafting Green or Mobley over Suggs would add the Rockets to this “busted draft” column

I'm guessing the logic is: scouts consider Suggs to have a higher floor therefore Mobley and Green will never attain their ceiling?

    How about: no

Good analysis - I wonder why no one is changing their mind about Green now having read your post.

Although I have no idea what the actual number is, a low chance of a hit is almost always true of the draft.

Some years there is a can't miss prospect that ends up missing. This year, there is reason to be excited by the top of the draft, but I don't think any of Cunningham, Green or Mobley would be considered can't miss prospects this year.

I agree... I'll take my chances with rockets evaluation but there's still a good chance they are a bust...

Dang zone defenses in college that skew projections.

OP, Do 10 years of picks 1-10 in the same so we can compare the hit and miss of each of those picks.

I dont think being excited is an issue, looking at where the team was at this point last year vs now, there's a lot of reasons to be excited.

I dont really mind the past history so much. Every class is different and every picker is different too. How many top 3 picks has Cleveland wasted by now? A chunk of all high lotto busts in the last 20 yrs belong to them. Sacramento picking

Sometimes the draft isnt great as well sometimes only a couple guys look promising at the outset I mean Miami wanted to take anybody else except Beasly no 2 but he was the clear cut standout compared to everybody else at the time. But then sometimes the draft is so deep you cant make a mistake. 2019 you happy whether you get Zion, Ja or RJ.

Rox right now have just started year 1 of rebuild, they arent looking for an instant impact savior in fact best result is to be bad again and maybe add Holgrem or Banchero next year. As long as our no 2 doesnt turn out to be a complete bust its a win already IMo

For whatever reason of randomness, the #3 picks have been substantially better over the last 2 decades

#2 has about the same hit rate as 4, 5, and 6 over the last 2 decades.

I’m just excited to witness the growing pains of these kids as the team over the next few years

Yeah we’ll suck but it’s fun and unpredictable

    Y’all are killing my vibe

I think of the top 4 Cunningham, Green and Suggs are cant miss prospects. Any of them would be no 1 in weaker drafts.

They might miss on being the next Luka, Kobe and JKidd, but barring freak injuries they guaranteed to be better than Beasley and Derrick Williams.

I don't think anyone was contending the second and 18 picks were comparable.

The point is the majority of the time even the second pick is a failure. It reflects how much of a crapshoot the draft can be...

It so they potentially raise the asking price for a trade down haul.

Looks like at the least we should get a player who is tradeable for future assets or packaged to get a star.

    Sweet!
