Westbrook in the playoffs this year

    19, 10, and 12 on 33/25/79 shooting splits taking 17 shots a game

as usual, when the games really mean something in the postseason, he is horrific...but hey, he did average a triple double

next year, people will probably still fall for the 1 or 2 month stretch where’s he’s having 20 rebound or 20 assist games

I saw all I needed to see with Russ last year when the Lakers defenders just stood in the paint and dared Russ to shoot and he tossed up brick after brick.

Beal is not Harden or KD - Those were the only two that can get Westbrook out of the first round
    Beal is like PG13

Do not agree, Beal is a PG13 on Offense, now we are talking.

Well, another first round exit for Westbrick to add to his collection.

After getting punked by Ricky Rubio and rookie Donovan Mitchell, after getting humiliated by Dame Lillard (who is a 10 times better player than him, but since hes with Adidas don't get much media recognition), now he got beat by Seth Curry and Ben Simmons. Poor Bradley Beal couldn't save his stat padding ass.

Too bad doing mean faces does not translate to wins, but only to attracts meatheads and 12 years old fans.

Btw, fun facts about his triple bubbles:

    https://www.nba.com/stats/players/b... Season&PerMode=Totals&sort=DEF_BOXOUTS&dir=1

Westbrick had a total of 27 box outs for the entire season. Yes you read that right: Mr. "10 rebounds per game" boxed out only 27 times for the entire season, and only 20 being def box outs, with the majority of his defensive rebounds being uncontested.

Guess who ended up second for the most box outs in the entire NBA ? His teammate Robin Lopez, with 229 total box outs (while averaging only 3.8 rebs per game).

Wonder how this "great strategy" of having your lowest IQ player on the court not play any defense in order to get the uncontested defensive rebounds (which translated to a sub .500 record in the shitty East) has not been copied by other NBA teams ?

    Excerpt from:
    https://hoopshabit.com/2021/05/12/washington-wizards-russell-westbrook-4/5/

"So is Westbrook a superstar-level contributor on offense at this stage in his career? Absolutely not, and every advanced metric bears this out. Westbrook ranks 323rd in offensive win shares this season, 115th out of 250 qualified players in FiveThirtyEight’s metric, and 46th in offensive box plus-minus which is aided by his high usage rate.

The final nail in the coffin is that the Washington Wizards average 111.5 points per 100 possessions with Westbrook on the court and 112.3 points with him on the bench. Add it all up and he no longer helps his team score much more than an average player. However, Westbrook is an elite rebounder which has to count for something, well sort of.

    ...

When it comes to defensive rebounds Westbrook is one of the best in business. His 28.8 percent defensive rebounding mark ranks 8th in the league and is an elite mark no matter the position. While not all rebounds are created equal, not all defensive rebounds are created equal either.

The best type of defensive rebound is a contested defensive rebound. The vast majority of defensive rebounds will land in the defense’s hands and who claims these uncontested rebounds doesn’t really matter. Westbrook is the king of uncontested rebounds.

Of the 11.6 rebounds a game he averages, only 2.9 are classified as contested which gives him a contested rebound rate of 24.7 percent. Westbrook’s contested rebound percentage sticks out like a sore thumb when compared to the top rebounders in the league.

Of all the players in the top-eight of defensive rebounding rate, Westbrook’s contested rebound rate is the lowest, with the next lowest being Giannis Antetokounmpo’s 27.7 percent mark (which warrants its own article), followed by Rudy Gobert at 36.7 percent on up to Enes Kanter’s 48.4 percent mark.

Elite rebounders tend to grab the tough contested rebounds in a way that Westbrook simply doesn’t. Grabbing an uncontested rebound shows up the same in the boxscore as a contested one, but they aren’t at all similar in value. One rebound is a formality and the other gives your team an edge."

But it's not just rebounds, his entire triple bubbles are a fraud:

He has basically created a cult of personality among his 12 years old fans, that is a mixture of victimhood ("poor Russ never has any help") and empty showboating (the idiotic mean faces that he does after a dunk while being down by 30 points). And people wonder how come the Wizards sucks on defense, when they have to play 4 v 5 the entire game because Westbrick spends the entire defensive possession around the rim instead of guarding his man so that he can statpad uncontested defensive rebounds.

And I'm not even talking about the majority of the sports media propping up this fraud, because apparently if you're with NIKE / Jordan Brand you become more shielded from criticism somehow. How come I never hear "Dame don't have enough help" ? It seems that many TV NBA "experts" have to somehow be softer with their criticism when a player is with NIKE/JORDAN than when they are with Adidas.

Let's be honest. The Wiz just took on Westbrook because it was the cheapest way to ditch Wall.

If they can pass him on to some other sucker, you bet they will!

unintended benefit of the Rockets in rebuild mode: not being overly invested in this type of stuff.

we're free for the next 3-4 years...

Westbrook is finishing his career like Iverson finished his. Moving from team to team unwilling to change his game to fit in with a team.

It feels good to not have to root for a team with your least favorite player on it
