I get that he's a rental, but this still seems crazy cheap, and dumped Smiths salary.

Think it’s a win-win. Toro really did everything we could’ve asked out of him, big hits filled in and played well when needed. Was starting to think he could be the Marwin replacement we wanted Diaz to be. I think after getting consistent time and at bats he’ll be a really good player. Astros now have 2 relievers that should be lock down, honestly makes the bullpen exponentially better given that the starters have mostly been covering 6. Javier/Graveman/Pressly for the final 9 outs, could do a lot worse than that.

I’m sure their fan base doesn’t like it, but Toro has a decent shot to be an above average 3B on a cheap contract for 4+ years… nice value for a rental reliever (that doesn’t have a consistently elite track record) for them.

Montero is interesting as a reclamation project too… we’ll see.

Sending out Joe Smith to clear some luxury tax room is a shrewd move too (assuming we’ve got more planned).

Apparently Montero was not DFA’ed by HOU, he was DFA’ed by SEA and came to HOU on waivers as part of the deal

What the hell just happened? How do we get Graveman for Joe Smith and Toro? Rental or not, that’s a fleecing.

    Well done, Mr. Click

Happy for Toros to get an opportunity to be an everyday 3B. He wasn’t gonna get much playing time here with Bregman at 3B.

They don't want to pay him and they move Sewald to closer. Not a bad plan if you're Seattle, oh and Toro control after Seager bails

Fine and all…but maybe don’t make a trade that improves the #1 team in your division immediately…while in the middle of a series with them…at home. It’s kinda shocking to me.

Not bad, Click. I approve. Still not completely sold on Click though, and hopefully another trade or two (cough, Kimbrel) is coming before the deadline.

Kinda sucks to see Toro go, but I understand the logic behind it. It's probably ultimately beneficial for him, in terms of getting more everyday playing time. He'll probably never be a star but he can be a decent, solid 3B.

Good riddance to Joe Smith. The only good thing about him was Allie LaForce.

very good start. Never saw toro as a starter and we have a ton of infield prospects.

Crazy trade! Nobody of prospect value even though they get Toro.

lol, yea that is not something I can explain however I'm guessing they don't really care about us as they're not chasing us and have no chance. Maybe the WC spot is enough to appease the fan base

Rental relievers just don’t bring a big price tag.

Moving Toro does tell us the Astros don’t see Bregman as a SS if Correa leaves
