Houston's own draft picks and 2023+ Brooklyn picks should be off the table unless for an established superstar. We just went through the hand wringing of potentially losing a lightly protected lottery pick this year. No way Cade is going to be worth giving another potential top 5 pick in future drafts + the 2021 #2 overall. Stand pat, I think Detroit blinks and takes Green anyways.
I don’t think I’ve been this anxious as a Houston sports fan since World Series game 7 vs Washington.
I think it's a smokescreen of sorts. I think they like Green more than they thought they would. I think they want someone else to force their hand. And to get a haul of picks while they're at it. The someone else being the Rockets. I think Stone should stay put and we should be happy with whoever we get.
The biggest issue I have with that being a smoke screen is that it theoretically diminishes the value of the number one draft pick. If the Rockets know that Cade may not be in play, they can stand pat and draft him. If the Pistons still do draft him, we still get Jalen Green. No harm no foul. However, knowing that the Pistons are considering other players means that you're no longer making the deal to take him out of their hands, which theoretically makes the pick less valuable. I still think that it's a smoke screen to entice a trade up. I think it's a clever smoke screen that also plays into Cleveland's hand too. After all, for Woj to get all his info, he has to play for the teams as well.
Yea, but that was a different management team making the decision. Weaver seems be well regarding in scouting. I think he came from OKC so we can’t bank in that.
Either it's a smoke screen then, or Detroit really is sold on one of the three players and wants at least one of them. If that's the case the only teams going to be able to trade up to number one is Houston or Cleveland. Unless Houston or Cleveland is willing to move down to number 6 and then OKC can package other pics to get to one. Do they have enough to do that? I don't think so. The draft is too top heavy with those first four players.
The point being, yes, the #6 pick is outside the realm of sexy. Decent thighs, but nothing that makes you stand aside in the street holding your Starbucks while watching her until she enters HEB. You know?
