He has a slow release and the media describes him as horrifying, but maybe we should use one of our later picks on him? https://nypost.com/2021/07/25/scary-looking-robot-steals-the-show-at-olympics/
The first time we have 1st rnd draft picks in what seems like 20yrs and I got to miss the party! The wife and family plans a family trip and guess what are the dates???... July 29 - August 8!
Murphy was a 6'4 point guard in highschool who just kept growing. He has better than average ball skills for someone of his size as a result. He's 6'9. He's also arguably the best shooter in this draft class - between him Kispert & Wieskamp. Murphy is the only player in the draft to shoot 50/40/90 splits last year. Wieskamp 49.1 - 46.2 - 67.7 Kispert 52.9 - 44.0 - 87.8 Murphy 50.3 - 44.3 - 92.7 JT Thor .... as a shooter reminds me of the one guy who I think is "the real Unicorn" - KD. Super long and has that silky smooth , effortless stroke. Guys that big just don't move like that .... & he's a decent rebounder and solid defender 1-5. Not saying he'll be that good .... just the size and shooting stroke remind me of KD.
Seems like Rockets can get the "potential" star from Jalen Green, then fill 23 and 24 with some likely starters in the near future, Some version of these player will be available. Some I love, others I'd be happy enough to give them a chance. 23 Kai Jones/ JT Thor/ A. Sengun/ I. Jackson/ U.Garuba 24 Springer/ Murphy/ Mann/ Cooper/ Butler
LOL I'm not attacking you, only shared my own opinion. Gang Green is extra sensitive. You guys can throw comps left and right, but let me make a similar comp about specific skillsets to a generational player then I am bombarded by everyone claiming that I believe Mobley is equal to a HOFer. Sheesh.
I'm not "Gang Green" by any stretch of the imagination .... I could go any number of ways , including moving back as far as 5(+8) & taking Barnes or staying put and taking Green .... What I have identified is the later guys I really like (Thor & Murphy). I wasn't comparing Thor's overall game to KD , just the size and how smooth his shot is. Not many guys that big move or shoot like that. Thor is RAW .... but there's something there to work with.
The only thing we've really had any disagreement on is Mobley .... I just don't believe the idea of a "generational talent" there .... Very good player yes , Wilt , Magic , MJ , Lebron .... No.
I don't believe there are any generational players in this draft. But I do believe Mobley is the most unique and has the highest ceiling as well as lowest floor.
Thor and Trey Murphy are the two guys I'd pick in the 23/24 range. Unfortunately I think Trey is gone by the teens...he makes too much sense for the Knicks and a couple other teams. Thor and Garuba/Jones might still be available though. If we get Green, thats the 2 guys I want. If we get Mobley, then Springer and Thor/Jones. If we trade down, then Barnes and Moody.
